Hey folks. I have a Tugboat with 0.9 ohm dual coils on a Hana at around 16 watts. My coils are beginning to turn black in the center. Is this normal? If not how should I rebuild?

A lot depends on the juice you're using. Every juice will discolour your coil but certain juices like Naturally Extracted Tobaccos (NET) or sweeter darker juices will darken and burn around the coil causing it to gunk/discolour even quicker. A truly gunky NET would require re-wicking every couple ML.

That aside, there's also the wicking aspect of it. If you are not getting enough juice to your coil efficiently, the coil will burn your wicking material creating a black spot under the coil.

Ya, what Dusty said. You ai`nt seen a gunky coil until you`v tried to run Highbrow through a kayfun. Looks like the stuff you scrap off the bottom of a oil pan.

So, I decided to rebuild today... My first coil...

Used cotton and my kraken is firing great!

I used those cheap pre-builts the first time. Now I appreciate making my own...
