When the battery is fully charged the charger will turn green (depending on the model) showing a full charge. No power will be going to the battery at that point.

However if for some reason it is constantly charging and never showing a full charge do not leave it on the charger. Also be aware leaving a battery on the charger all the time does present the small risk of something malfunctioning and possibly causing a fire.

Personally I leave my on the charger all the time, but they are plugged in over my stove away from anything flammable to reduce the risk. It’s not a huge risk, just something to be aware of. This information also applies to cell phone, lap tops as occasionally one of those does malfunction and cause a fire.

It is never a good idea to leave any battery in any charger, after the battery has come to a full charge.

It is also recommended not to leave any charger plugged into the wall after it has done its duty, as albeit not 'working" perse, it is still consuming electricity, although small amounts, consumption just the same.

Li-ion batteries are not as durable as nickel metal hydride or nickel-cadmium designs, and can be dangerous if mistreated. They may suffer thermal runaway and cell rupture if overheated or charged to an excessively high voltage.[38] In extreme cases, these effects may be described as "explosive."
