Well I think an intelligent charger such as the pila charger is a good investment for both piece of mind and faster charging . The trustfire chargers get warm and don't stand up to a lot of wear and tear . They are fine for maybe batteries you might use in a toy but for every day use I would spend the money . I finally did and I don't regret it .

 I did contact the gentleman from JR Custom Tunnings, and he was good enough to offer great advice. It seems just when i think i got things right i am digging my own self deeper and deeper here......really starting to get frustrated with myself actually. Basically so far i got is that trust fire's are meh....while AW IMR's are better but you need to get a charger built from NASA (poor attempt at humor)

By the looks of it then and in a attempts to uncnfuse myself i have three options:

1) Wait for the aw's to arrive, then take a deep breath and try to charge them on the trustfire tr-001 charger and hope i am not at ground zero for remodeling done easy.

2) Put the AW's on the self, then go to gentleman's reserve buy a coupe pair of 3.6V 880mah trustfire's

3) Take Chelly up on her offer for the Saber, then pick up some ego twist's, and forget about the lambo (as i am sure i would be right back in the same boat)

The frustration with myself, like i said is just when i think i got it all figured out, i find out i got myself deeper and not know a darn thing about it all.

It is a bit slow, but not so slow that I'm waiting on batteries to charge. Even with only 2x18350s I never end up waiting for it to finish charging (thank god, that'd be as bad as the 510 stick batt days lol).

Try charging up 2x 18650's. Its painful! Especially if they are the 2400mah Turstfires. Seems like mine take allllllllllll day

It's called life. Just when things are going good, life sticks an ice pick in your forehead just to help you remember that nothing worth having comes easily!

Just once it would be nice to have something come easy....it is not hard to ask...i mean winning the lottery, getting a free five star restuarnt 18oz steak....something?

Agreed, I think you are over over thinking (complicating) things Constantine

my life is anything but......anyway i am starting to learn to not hit the ceiling....

it's a work in progress

A TR-001 will work . People will spend in some cases a couple of hundred dollars on a mod so why is it harder to spend some money on a good charger . I don't know . I have tried the ego-C and IMO it is the wrong form-factor . It gets too hot if used for more that a few puffs in a row . The provari or one of the other larger VV mods do not because of the size and the ability of the mod it's self to dissipate heat . That is one thing that I think needs more looking into in ecig design . The ego C batteries I have tried are 650mah and with VV run out faster than a normal 650 battery and are as long as a 1000mah battery . They last long enough I suppose but you probably will need a couple and/or a PCC for all day use . I like mods because the batteries are cheaper and easier to change .

It is a good charger. My only grip with it.... It is slow to charge

Slow is good. Fast is a real concern with lithium based batteries. I want quick, efficient charging too, but I dont' want a charger that heats up the cells. Heat is the enemy of any battery. I rotate 4 AW 18650 IMRs and they stay cool and calm throughout the process on my TR-001.

Anything with electronics can fail. I have the option to stay with my charger for safety while it's doing its work. After reading some of the stories about charger, battery, and PV failures, I'm pretty stuck on the safer IMR chemistry for my PV's. IMR isn't perfect, but the video tests I've seen on Li-ion and IMR make me lean toward IMR in the event of a failure.

I'll probably buy a Pila charger someday, but those can fail also. Silicon circuits aren't 100% reliable no matter who made the chips and supporting circuit parts.

I like the mass and the stainless steel construction of the Provari. It takes on the warmth of my hand when I hold it and it gets like an ice cube if I set it on the car seat and let the A/C blow toward it. It absorbs and dissipates heat well.

 well here is what i got through looking, reading, and a lot more of chelly nelly's help plus the gentleman at jr custom turnings:
~aw imr's are just fine in the tr-oo1...
~the 16340's will take about 6 (+/-) hours to charge,
~though they say 550mah, they could last longer then the trust fire 880mah's,
~seeing as they are "high drain" they can make a lr boge or kanger driver harder thus making a better throat hit (even at 3.7V),
~the 20hz going to 20khz whine that drives through my skull is normal as this is the sound a completely dead battery makes...speculation is it is being "powered up" at a high rate
~If you have one mod, get two, have two ego batteries (one pass through and one reg. preferable a ego twist)...back up the back ups thing.
~staying off the ceiling helps with better concentration
~Jam samiches are meant to be taken and ran with
~aphro's and mullets and the whole wolverine look is best left in the 80's early 90's
~a tree falling in a forest will make a sound if no one is around
and finally
~a wood chuck will chuck about 9 cords if a wood chuck could chuck wood.

ok, so maybe some of those were not really that important

If the xtar 6 bay is like the wp2 ii, it has one spacer per bay, you need a second for 16340, and none for 18650.

Wp2 ii, like pila, has a near ideal charge characteristic. Switch position 2 is a 1 amp max current, good for big (> 1000 mAh) 18650, while position 1 is around 500 mA, for smaller batteries. With power disconnected, the wp2 discharge rate is very small; I use a little belkin outlet timer, cuts off at 3 hours, so even a charger fail won't keep charging too long.
