Is it recommended (safe) to use a Trustfire 18650 3400mah battery in a Provari

Has anyone used one of these batteries or have any reviews about it? Does it have the same qualities as the AW IMR High Drain batteries that Provape sells on their site. I am hesitant to use anything that isn't recommended on my Provari I spent a lot of dough I'm not looking to fry it out or screw something up.

Can anyone with more battery knowledge give me some insight on the benefits and negatives to this battery and it's use in the Provari? I know it can fit in a Provari, but it is recommended for use in it?

Well, first, we'll need more info about the battery. If it is not unprotected High Drain IMR battery, then it should absolutely NOT be used in the ProVari. I suspect that is the case.

Also, t is certainly not a 3400mah battery if it is an IMR. So either it is not an IMR battery, or they are vastly overstating the mah.

That is a protected battery and will not work in a ProVari.

It is irrelevant what the advantages of a protected cell vs unprotected cell, IMR vs NCR or other chemistry. Using anything but an unprotected high drain 3.7v IMR battery in a ProVari will either not work, or could risk frying the device or worse. Do not use anything but a single unprotected high drain 3.7v IMR battery in a ProVari. If you use a non reccomended battery, very bad things may happen.

I will say this; in a regulated device like the ProVari, VAMO, ZMax, ect, the device itself has built in short circut and over-discharge protection and will not function with a battery that has its own protection.

Why does he want to use the above battery rather than the reccomended ones?

Anything other than the AW IMR batteries listed by Provari will void the warranty. RTD is a great place to buy batteries. Do you really want to risk your Provari by using a non recommended battery? I won't. I use AW batteries in almost everything I own that I'm proud of. A few of them get other brands, but not my Provari.

That is not true. It is a common ECF myth. Look in the ProVari owners manual. The reccomended battery is a single 3.7v High Drain IMR button top battery. It does not specify what brand. And using batteries other than the AWs WILL NOT void the warranty as long as they adhere to the reccomendations in the manual.

It's true that AWs are "reccomended" on the ProVape Site, but ProVape also happens to be selling them there.

We really need to stop this "Warranty Myth" about AWs and the ProVari.

I'm not saying that AWs aren't the preferred or best battery to be using, but lets make sure we are giving the correct information.

Edit: What can void the warranty is stacking batteries or using magnetic spacers.

I'd rather just use a proper battery in the first place. I checked out the link you provided, thank you for the information. Since he's a hard head and obsessed with the longer battery life will this battery from that page be safe to use:

What are those 3 "nodes" on the bottom of the battery? Is this a high drain battery? Can you recommend one in the 3000mah range I can recommend him to use?

From ProVape's site with regard to the ProVari.

We recommend only using AW IMR high drain batteries in your ProVari.
You must use batteries that have a positive button on the top. Flat top batteries will not work. Installing magnet(s) on top of your battery is very dangrous and will void the warranty.

No. That battery plainly states it is a "protected" battery. Those batteries will not work in a Provari.

IMR and protected batteries use different chemistries. Two different animals. The Provari will only work safely with IMR batteries with a nipple top (not flat-topped). To keep it simple, use only the red AW IMR batteries that Provape recommends.

As has been pointed out by those above, using a protected battery in a Provari will cause it to shut down or worse. If your boyfriend continues to be an ......., don't allow him to touch your precious. or your Provari

I think he'll be very happy with the vape time that battery will give.
My batteries last significantly longer in my Provari than they do in my 33hz chinese mods.

After sending an email to Provape in regards to batteries. I'm just stating what the reply was in regards to AW IMR batteries.

I use three different types of 18650 in my provari

AW IMR 2000mah
Panasonic CGR18650CH 2250 Mah Button top
Panasonic NCR18650PD 2900mah button top

The two panasonics are unprotected high drain batteries with a 10 amp rating. The NCR18650PD button top is a nice way to boost battery life but you have to make sure it is the PD and A or B or whatever else.
