Safe......Maybe.

But if something goes wrong (like using the wrong charger on the battery) and it all goes up in a firey stinky nightmare you've just lost your vapes and your social media AND your ability to put in a quick order for replacements.

The USB ports are usually pulling max current charging a ecig.....I dont use it myself for just that reason.

IMHO YMMV

If I'm not mistaken there should be a safety feature on all devices but if it is plugged into a charger that it is not rated for the safety feature may not work causing the battery to over charge and ignite.

Sorry about the run on.

There should be.....I agree.

But the final design of any circuit board in modern electronics are not approved my engineers anymore.

They are aproved by Chinese accountants.

Got too go!!! No afford!!! too much.....NOT ENOUGH PROFIT TRY Again!

Don't count on it. Its all a thing of the past and the only UL approved boards in must big box computers are the Main power supplies. "The rest", as they say "is the finest collection of Chinese manufactured technology that the lowest bidder will provide."

I've seen a couple online shops that have a disclaimer saying not to do it. I've also seen reports of bad experiences most of which were charging on a pc. Enough for me not to do it but thought it would be interesting to talk about. Any battery whether it be an e-cig or ipod will react if the device doesn't stop charging once it reaches capacity. Some people go as far as not leaving a charger unattended while charging. Seems like the fault may be in the device itself.

My keyboard pulls 100ma.

My mouse pulls 100ma.

My old EGO-T charger pulled 450ma.

So, if I plugged the E-cig dongle into the back of the puter with the keyboard and mouse I was pulling 650ma on a power supply rated for 500ma.

I did it many times and nothing fried.....

But if your pulling 100% plus the rated draw your stressing the power supply. Eventually its gonna go into smoke release mode.(the most important part of any piece of electronic equipment is the magic smoke. Once released nothing works)

110vac chargers are 9 bucks.

Corrected.....I used mW where I should have used mA

I am not as concerned w/ the computer getting damaged as the house burning down from an over charged battery. It's not a matter of being sufficient current to charge it. Trickling the battery can still overcharge it. It's a matter of the safety shut off working once it reaches capacity. Then again it could be big tobacco trying to scare people back to cigarettes. I have read some blogs that were obviously blown out of proportion to scare people. It is a rare occurrence.
