I did the straw mod yesterday after seeing it in a vid. I admit, I do like to tinker with things and I tried it out. I used a Capri Sun straw. Lol. The bottom was already 'syringed' and I am getting awesome VAPES!!!!!!!!! However, I was already getting awesome vapes. So they are I suppose, just as awesome.

Oh, I am using an automatic 510 by the way. And it delivers pretty awesome vape clouds stock (cant see my face if you're talking to me) ... The straw mod was fun, but Im not so sure it improved the hits. Fun stuff though. I'm still using my original cartridge from maybe 10 or so days ago. I've just been refilling it as needed.

One more thing. I've read that a gurgling atomizer is a flooded atomizer, but its been my experience (which is totally limited) that if it's pushed to the point of almost flooding, ie: slight gurgle, is when I get the biggest hits and blow the biggest clouds.

So, yep, any of this make sense?

Happy vapin' :w00t:

Yes... that has been my experience. I dry or near-dry atty will produce vapor.. but it is a thin vapor.

A "near flooded" atty will often produce a lot of vapor.... but it is hit-and-miss on whether you'll get a decent throat hit out of it. And, of course, you go one notch further to full-flood and the vapor trails off again and the atty can get quite warm.

I vaped several months without a cartridge mod. I was filling with a syringe the night before carts would be used. Just as many of were when we started. After getting sick and tired of the syringe, I investigated cart mods.

The straw mod allowed complete filling of a dry cart without a syringe. The straw mod made the 510 start wicking sooner and produce more consistent vapor, not necessarily stronger.

Once using a suffiently hot atomizer, the packing of the filler is perhaps the most important factor in delivering consistent throat hit. It will be worth your while to stay open minded to cart mods.

Dave
