I always use a multimeter you can never know when a short might happen and worse yet a dead short. You should go check out baditudes blogs on thermal runaway and batteries if you think its not necessary. Its like putting on your seatbelt before getting into a car you.may not always get in a wreck but what happens when you.do?

Multimeter will allow you to check your battery voltages to make sure they are in a safe range. They come in handy to also check for shorts in your coil build. Some multimeters also allow checking the ohms of your build, actually they all allow you to check it but some give you a useless jumping number. A ohm meter designed for coil building is a better option when it comes to checking for shorts and the ohms of your coil build but you would still need a multimeter to check battery voltages.

I mean once you purchase the battery and mod its really done deal , theres no point in buying a multimeter since its highly unlikely it would explode if the battery was too far great for the mod and atomizer. i dont know if i should waste my 7.99 for a multimeter

If you have a regulated mod like an mvp, sid, vamo, svd, tesla, vtr etc; all of these can display information for you, including what ohms it sees on your atomizer.

If you are using a mechanical mod, it's like flying blind; works fine... till it doesn't.

guess I would have to say, since you asked the question

you should probably do some more research on MODS, batteries, atomizers

just to play it safe, do a little studying
know it's not what you want to hear, but it's more than a Yes / No answer...

:)

I don't have a mech mod (yet), but when I get one, I'll be getting my hands on a multimeter. I want to be able to check my battery levels as well as my coil resistance (right now, I'm cheating with my EVOD heads and using my MVP/VV3 readers to find my coil happy spot.) At least with regulated mods, they won't fire if the resistance is too low. I just want to be safe :) I don'ts wants to go "boom"

* both batteries in the first two pics were authentic AW IMR (safe-chemistry) batteries, generally considered one of the safest batteries on the market today. The third and fourth pics were so-called "protected" ICR batteries. Rechargeable Batteries

Batteries can and have exploded, and a dead short is just the ticket to experience one first hand. GET an ohm meter, learn HOW to use it, and then USE IT. Battery knowledge, practicing safe mod & battery habits are KEYS to preventing what occured in the above pics.

lmfao that looks ....ing scary.... the thing about mechanical mod is that there is very little information in internet q.q :(

you're kidding, RIGHT

man, that's just a cop out, there is tons & tons of good info right at your fingertips/keyboard
make a commitment or choose another path

you gotta play it safe

It's just a tube to hold a battery; very simple device; it's cheaper to make an empty tube for a battery than to make the same thing with short circuit protection included.

Jesusman. Please be sure you own a multi meter if you plan on owning any type of rba.... Kmart sells a plenty useful one for about $20...

Be safe. Know the limits of your device. Know the limits of your battery.... long before you ever consider pressing the fire button..... know that you are safe. Good Luck.

IMHO, multimeters are necessary household items, almost as indispensable as a cork screw or a can opener. Yesterday, my magnet retrofitted Nemesis clone grabbed a 28ga Kanthal splinter bridging the switch. The splinter was comletely hidden below the magnets. I just noticed the short because the battery started getting warm. As fast as I could I opened it and removed the battery. Were it not for a MM I would still be looking for the cause of the short.

The world is full of people who were too cheap to be smart.

I think there is plenty of information.........there just isn't a lot of emphasis on safety for some of the suggestions that are given here. It's great to want to sub-ohm and get a mech but those suggestions should always come with strong suggestions to read an understand how to use the equipment safely.

It is only going to take one or two horror stories of bad things happening to vapers to make it easy to have the government take it away.
