As I mentioned in a different post, the American Cancer Society notes that a typical smoker will intake an average of 1.5mg of nicotine per cigarette. For me, that equated to 75mg of nicotine per day when I was smoking.

I vape with 24mg liquids, and a bottle of 15ml will typically last me one week. So haven't I DRASTICALLY cut down on my nicotine intake? And could this explain why some people have indicated on the forums that they vape more than they used to smoke, or that they still continue to smoke occasionally while vaping?

Or is my math screwed up? Am I overlooking something?

I've found that my nic intake is lower as well. It's possible that the figure from ACS is a little inflated (I think I've seen figures as low as 0.75mg), or that interactions with the other chemicals in smoke cause a smoker to need more than a vaper. Based on my calculations (same formula as yours) I'm getting 1/2 the nic I used to.

I always thought it was only between .5 and 1mg per cigarette? maybe thats why i still feel like i need a smoke every now and then

1.5 is the average I came up with, based on the American Cancer Society's claim that an individual takes in between 1mg and 2mg per cig (sometimes less, sometimes more), depending on the amount of nicotine in the cigarette (which can be more than 2mg), the number of drags, how long the smoke held in the lungs, the amount of smoke inhaled, how far down to the .... a cigarette is smoked, etc.

Most anyone who is educated on the issue of chemical dependancy in regards to nicotine will agree that the detox period is 3 days. Meaning that after 3 days you will no longer be experiencing any physical effects if the withdrawls.

The mental side is another story and is the reason people can't quit. This is why vaping has proven so effective. It mimicks all the sensory cues that smoking does. Satisfies the oral fixation, gives off a convincing smoke subsitiute, etc.

If you have been vaping for a week and still think you are having nicotine withdrawls... well, most likely it's pschosomatic (in your head).

I've smoked for nearly 25 years until I got my hands on one of these and not a single analog since. For this I am truly thankful. I cringe whenever I read these posts about how much less nicotine we are getting because I know many people will validate that their "cravings" and addiction is not being met and possibly go back or supplement with analogs.

Nicotine and caffeine are very similar. You may be irritable if you don't get your morning cup, but after a few days it really doesn't bother you so much. Smoking just mentally a much bigger "crutch".

0mg, 8, 16, 24, 36.... I could care less what I'm vaping as long as I'm NOT smoking!

p.s. I do usualy order the "high" juice just to shut the voices up in my own head
