So I decided to Google last night, how much nicotine is in a single analog cigarette... and I first found a link saying that 1 cigarette equals approximately 1mg of nicotine....
At that point, I kinda freaked out. When I started vaping again about 2 months ago, I had been trying to cut down on my smoking... forcing myself to stick to about a half-pack of analogs a day, so roughly 10mg of nicotine a day.
When I got my first bottle of e-liquid, I went medium-high (based on the levels available at the store), a 26mg bottle. My consumption ranges from 1.5 - 3 ml a day.
Now, I knew I was getting more nicotine from vaping, no doubt... I didn't constantly feel like I was depriving myself like when I was forcing myself to only smoke 10 a day (I was a 2-pack a day for years) and I figured it was no big deal for me to have an initial spike in my nicotine intake while I got off the analogs, and I could start tapering myself down (I'm now alternating between 24mg in the morning/day, 18/17mg in the afternoon, and 11 in the evening/night, so I don't vape myself into insomnia....)
But I did the math, and if it's 24mg per ml and I'm having a heavy vape day where I go through 3ml, that means I'm vaping 72 mg of nicotine, or nearly 4 packs of analogs worth?!?!?
I have only felt over-vaped a few times... little headache, slight nausea... usually it's just a little insomnia if I stay up late writing or watching a movie and chain-vaping on a high nic level... but am I really getting 35-70mg of nic in a day if I vape around 1.5 -3ml?? That seems crazy.
So then I did more research, and found this:
Is there a similar sort of absorption ratio with e-cigs? I simply cannot believe that I went from 10mg to 30-70mg in a few days without having any kind of reaction.
Knowing my body, and having a long history of wavering between heavy smoking and trying to cut back, I feel like my nicotine intake on an average day right now is probably more like 1 to 1.5 packs of analogs, and frankly I trust my body a lot more than I trust some calculations based on some numbers I found on the internet.
Is there any kind of cheap home test for checking the nicotine level in your system? Knowing how I've felt when I've over-vaped, I am confident my body will let me know when the levels are getting too high for comfort, but these initial calculations have me a little tripped out....
Either way, I feel 10 times healthier than I did 2 months ago, so I know I'm not changing anything anytime soon... but your input would be greatly appreciated!

So then I did more research, and found this:
The average cigarette in the United States contains about 9mg of nicotine. However, this is not the amount of nicotine that is ingested by the smoker. Cigarettes are burned and the smoke is inhaled by the person, so the nicotine is absorbed through the smoke. The amount of nicotine that actually enters the body in this manner is typically less than 1mg.
