Hello all:

I read in another thread that if there isn't a logo on the shiny end of the battery of the eGo-T, it's probably a knock-off.

Is this true? And if so, should I trash this thing and buy a real one?

I can't remember which site I bought this from, but can you recoomend reputable sites where I can purchase e-cig accessories?

I'm thinking if I'm going to spend $80 on an eGo-T, maybe I should just go all-in and buy a Provari. Everyone seems to RAVE about those things.

Thanks!

Does it work? If so, don't worry about it.

"Real" Joye eGo batteries are voltage regulated to 3.4 volts while many of the others (Riva, KGO, etc.) are not so they come off the charger at 4.2 volts and drain down from there. I use KGOs myself and my son has Rivas and they've been working fine for months. To me, a "knock-off" is a cheap imitation that doesn't work, not just a competing product from a different manufacturer. As far as vendors, stay with the ECF registered vendors and you'll be fine. I've used nearly a dozen different vendors so far and got good service from all...

Thanks NGIB. Yeah, it works fine, but I'm wondering if the "real" brand is far better than this one as far as taste, smoke production, etc. So far this is only my 2nd PV - I had a V2 before, but it really only worked well through the first couple of hits, then went quickly downhill.

This one seems to be more powerful and lasts until the cartomizer is dry.

Actually, if you have an unregulated battery you'd probably be unhappy with a "real" Joye as they put out 3.4 volts - period. Simple way to tell, put a volt meter on it and fire it...

I thought genuine Joye eGos were regulated using pulse width modulation (minus the eGo C Upgrade and eGo twist) PVs that use this type of regulation will not work with a standard volt meter. But, as long as you're not buying one just for this purpose go for it. If it works, then it might be a competitor and if it doesn't, well, you probably have a genuine Joye product.

If it's not broke, don't fix it. It makes a great back-up, regardless of what you get. Back-ups are Good!

If you would like a Joye, try the Joye eGo Twist so you can experience variable voltage, as well. They haven't started the knock-offs of the Twist, Yet! It will have the Joye logo on the bottom. If the ProVari's price is not a hardship, by all means get one, then you will know. Otherwise the Twist will provide VV at a "back-up" price. Or get both.

I now think that a vendor that I have bought a half dozen egos from is selling egos that are not genuine joyetech egos. I will tell you why I thin this. It is because they are offering the new ego-c twist in colors that the joyetech website does not offer them in. When I go to the joyetech website they say they have the twist in black, stainless, pink, and white. That is why I think when I see them offered in lots of other colors I think they must be the knock-offs. If that is not true and someone knows different I would like to know about it.
