Is one better than the other? Ego vs Tornado

Just a heads up on the Platinum... they changed the finish on them.

From all the pictures, it looks like it has a metallic paint right? Nope. At least, not anymore it doesn't. I recently ordered a single battery with a cone, and what I got is quite different from the pictures. It has a rubber texture, and is not shiny or metallic. You can somewhat see the metallic paint behind the rubber coating, but it's definitely not the same.

Dunno if that will bother you or not, but I thought I should mention it. I think I'll probably end up sanding it off to reveal the stainless steel underneath.

It sounds kinda cool. I think I quite like the idea of a rubberised feel to the PV. I think I might actually like that !? ... I may have to order me another batt and see ???

What I've been desperate to get my hands on is a damned automatic batt. But neither Janty or TW ever seem to have any "auto's" in stock. I've been waiting for what seems like forever to try one out ! (I'm not too keen on all that button pressing. I'm sure hopin will be a pretty decent alternative !?)

Yeah, the finish is actually pretty cool... it's the finish I was originally expecting when I got my white kit. I actually hated the texture of the white... it felt like ceramic. If the white had the same texture as the platinum one I received, I probably would have kept one for myself instead of selling them both.

I go back and forth... I'd like to have at least seen/owned the shiny metallic one as well so I could at least compare to the newer finish. But, it's a minor minor issue.. not worth complaining about. Just thought I'd mention it though.. for people who are thinking of purchasing the platinum ones.. cuz they're not the same as in the pictures.

Actually "NatureBoy" , just to make doubly sure here, for I'm kinda getting a little confused. Did you mean the finish of the "Silver" eGo, or the "Platinum" Tornado, has changed to this new rubberised finish ???
Because I was also under the impression that they were both also exactly the same. But in fact, they are actually quite different from one another. (i.e. the eGo being a much more shiny silver, and the Tornado being a somewhat more "gunmetal-ly" type of platinum/silver). ... I'm not quite sure which one I actually prefer between the two ?? (Though it's usually the one, one doesn't have, hey !? (LOL)
I really am intrigued about this new silver one. ... So just to check again, to see if I am understanding you correctly. You did mean a kind of transparent rubberised spray over a stainless steel type under body, that shines thru ?

How long ago did you purchase this "new finish" platinum one ? ... For I have a friend who got a TW platinum just about a week ago, and he's is still the same as my older one. (i.e. shiny paint !)
Or perhaps it's also only out your side of the pond ?? ... (Or maybe those one's have just not reached here yet ?) ... Or maybe too many people started complaining about scratches on the finish or something ??? Causing them to go "rubberised" instead ???
I'm now almost contemplating ordering a silver batt from TW US. Just to satiate my curiosity. (LOL)

Shipped March 19th. Maybe you friend got older stock... I know TW US restocked all their parts not too long ago. If you order, don't forget the cone!

I can take a pic if you want.... but you won't really be able to tell, aside from a lack of shininess.

I bought a single tornado platinum manual battery and cone and got it a few days ago, and I thought it looked like the pics I'd seen

not until I read this thread did I really look at it closer, I guess I could see it being described as feeling rubbery, but it doesn't feel like something truly rubberized. However it definitely feels different than bare stainless steel obviously

it isn't really shiny, its a slightly matte look but I like that, and the cone matches it so I'm satisfied
