I would gladly become a supporting member if not for PayPal only. I had a terrible experience with PP that almost cost me my house and car so I will never use them for anything again. There is also the fact that PP does not allow e-cig transactions yet it is the only way we can support ECF. Seems kinda weird to me.

I am not saying the site owner(s) are doing it on purpose but I would be looking at other options as an e-cig website. I will not be able to support ECF or buy from the classies until another option is found.

We should keep this thread about subscription payment options and not what's wrong with Paypal. Hopefully we can have a thoughtful discussion about options for the future.

Well, just for the sake of clarification, one of the reasons people want options other than PayPal is because PayPal has taken an active anti-vaping stance. If I had an option to support ECF without supporting PayPal, I'd take it.

Thank you Trick. Last night I couldn't formulate that thought to save my life. :)

What Trick said. I really would love to support ECF. I would like the ease of just using my credit card. I really don't want to have to open an account with a third party just for this. I have no desire to go into the classifieds or to get Verified. I have other Subscriptions that are recurring and they get charged to my credit card automatically.

Please ECF, look into using a credit card as an option for those of us that don't or have no desire to do business with PayPal.

I'll revisit the whole PayPal supporting member issue again for those that have missed it in the past.

The Forum software uses a plugin to automate the subscriptions. At one point MoneyBookers was also a supported payment method, but now it only supports PayPal. Should there be additional payment methods accepted by our plugin available in the future we'll likely include those as well.

ECF does not have the volume required to get a Merchant account and credit card processing gateway, that would just be completely cost INeffective.

Nor do we have the ability to receive checks and money orders by mail.

And finally, lets be a little more clear about PayPal and E-Cigarette transactions. PayPal only prohibits use of their service for e-cigarette transactions by US accounts. You can pay for E-Cigarettes and related supplies by PayPal with no issues whatsoever if the ToS governing the recipient allows it. A major example of this is Liberty Flights, which is allowed to do E-cigarette business through PayPal because they are a UK based company and the PayPal ToS for the UK doesn't prohibit E-cigarettes.

I have had a PayPal acct for years.
They even have a security key that you can get which provides extra security.

If at anytime there a hint of a problem, they will then go one step further by given you a four digit number and they will call you to enter that number via phone.

I recently had to do this and when I was shopping for Christmas and it does become a pain but it's really nice to know they have that safe guard there.

PayPal is secure!

This forum has help me trenendously and I do appreciate it.

Thank you, that's exactly why I asked the question. ECF has been incredibly valuable to me and the least I can do is subscribe, sustain, and donate to CASAA. Old Soldier, thank you for the explanation. I will join Paypal as I'm not concerned about their security and it's well worth it, IMHO, to go through another registration process as the sole method of supporting this forum.

My beef with Paypal, and by extension what's holding me up here is that to get verified, I have to link my bank account?! Are they crazy?

They already got my SS card, and driver's license (which I was told would verifiy me!), but that isn't good enough? Now they want my bank too?

No. Uh uh. A credit card? I have one I'd feel safe with. But never my bank.

I've actually become quite a fan of PayPal, particularly over the past few years. They keep improving the service and it's been tremendously useful for me. I know that everything is subjective, and I'd probably just have kept this to myself, but I felt compelled to contribute to the illustration that this, like everything, has more than one perspective.

Contribute or not, but I'm not sure using PayPal as an excuse brings too much validity. Particularly since it's so easy to both create and disable an account.

Just more :2c: from Yours Truly.
