End caps on Phiniacs are quite a bit thicker than an IBTank and the o-rings seem to fit a tiny bit better.I think the glass itself is thicker as well. Most people wont notice a difference between the two.

Only reason I do is because I like to pry the top cap off to fill with liquid then blow the whole tank out before vaping. Thicker endcaps make it easier.

I have several chips on the top of my IBTanked pyrex tube as a result of this.

I have both, and I personally consider both to be high quality tanks. Whether the Phiniacs are better and justifies the much higher cost I find to be arguably no.

The Phiniacs come generically with black delrin caps. You will need to pay significantly more for the stainless steel caps, which by the way they look in the pics that I have seen are top notch, finely machined caps.

The Phiniacs are notorious for their video's demonstrating how durable that they are, and I have no doubt that they are. But it is still glass, and it will break if mishandled. It is not like these are indestructable.

Having said that, some of my 7 IBTanks have taken falls from a locker room bench onto a hard tile floor and not suffered any damage. I have a bad habit of laying my mods on my lap while I drive; I occassionally forget to grab it when getting out of the car, and the mod and tank fall onto the parking lot; still no damage. That's pretty durable.

I would say, besides the obvious price difference, would be if you are considering personalizing your tank. The IBTanks offer a wide variety of custom paint designs and styles to the tubes and caps.

The Phiniacs offer textured tanks, colored glass tanks, color sand-blasted designs and frosted tanks, and 3-dimensional glass blown designs.

My feeling is they are both high quality tanks and you can't go wrong with either vendor.

Only two brands of tanks I have! Two Phiniacs and three Ibtanked ( so far ) Phiniac tube is thicker but I don't have SS caps for them ( were out of stock) Ibtanks all have SS caps I love them both so much and they work and look beautiful atop my Provari mini. So if price is a factor go for Ibtanked .. Both great quality :)

what does blowing the whole tank out before vaping mean? My ibtank is on the way right now. Just curious, do you wet the end caps with e-juice before putting them on the tank so it slides on the tube easier? or do you put them on dry?

Take a look at my blog entries under my avatar (click the link).

I have detailed info on how to fill a carto and tank correctly, including a demo video. There are a few other articles with helpful information, including the Safe Vaping Power Chart to find the correct ohm carto for the voltages that you use, discussion of single coil vs dual coil cartos, why I recommend laser-drilled cartos over tool-punched cartos, and a list of vendors that provide pre-punched cartos for tanks.

great instructions! do you lubricate the end caps before attaching them to the tube or do you attach them dry?

When a carto gets clogged our you think you might have gotten juice in the center hole while filling (Baditude recommends using a toothpick....put this in the center hole before filling) its common practice to blow through the drip tip into a paper towel to get rid of the excess juice.
