Has anybody bought any batteries from Powerstream? I noticed they post charts, graphs etc. I see that they have some LG HE2, Samsung and Sony VTC4 and VTC5. I know RTD, Orbtronic, Illum, Lighthound are the most reputable but wasn't sure about Powerstream. Even though they have VTC5 for $30 a piece I wouldn't mind paying that for 1 of them.

I just called and talked to the Vice President of sales at Powerstream. He assured me that they purchased them in July from Sony and he could provide me a copy of the purchase order. He also stated that they buy the fakes on ebay to test them so they can compare them to their batteries. He said he stand 200% behind the battery and if they are fake he will refund me my money. At that point what do I have to lose I guess

Go ahead and let us know how a thirty dollar battery functions. I will buy three AW IMR batteries for that price and feel comfortable using them for my 0.5 ohm coils.

I will def let you know haha. I'm not too worried about the price or the money. I bought 2 so it is now $60.00.

I contacted media services at Sony about the VTC batteries and here is the cut/paste of the reply.

to me
Thank you for your inquiry.

The 18650 type batteries are no longer manufactured by Sony.

This product was never intended for individual, public sale and are not eligible for warranty or engineering support. It was only available to OEM makers of specific devices.

The specifications and markings on the battery may vary depending upon the OEM’s requirements.

Therefore, it is difficult to determine the true manufacturer or authenticity of the batteries without physical inspection and manufacturing code research.

This type of battery is widely available on the internet market through non-authorized resellers.

Therefore, Sony is not liable for the performance or use of this type battery for non-intended purposes.

Such applications should be done at the user’s own risk.

Furthermore, any battery of this type claimed to be Sony brand may be older stock.

We apologize that we cannot offer further assistance with this matter.

Sincerely,

Powerstream has that letter on their website as well. It is almost identical to the one you got back from Sony. I searched the CPF forum and found that Powerstream is a very reputable company on the board and seems to be the go to place for battery packs. I should get the batteries in the next day or 2 and I will post pics and we can see what the consensus is on them. If they are fake I get my $60 back if they prove to be real then I have some Authentic VTC5 and had to pay more then double to get them.
Powerstream also told me for $1 that anybody on this forum who thinks they have fake batteries that if you send them the battery that they will test it and tell you what it is putting out.

I respect your attitude in this thread. :) Everyone just want's folks here to get what they think they are getting. I hope it turns out good for ya.

I appreciate that. I know a lot of these VTC5 threads come up and everybody wants that battery when I know the VTC4 is just as good but with a lower mah. I know Samsung 25r's and LG He2 are great as well because I have several of both. I think the Samsungs are even on par with the VTC5. I have read a lot of posts on people who have got scammed and post where to buy from the right vendors. When I got my VTC4 I made sure I bought them from someone reputable. I buy most of my batteries from RTD so I know I get the real deal. I figured why not take a shot on these VTC5 especially since I know I can get my money back. I just hope it pays off. I know $60 for 2 batteries is a bit of money and I realize that. My motto is it's money and I work hard for it so I might as well get what I want. That's why I bought a Vaporshark and a Vaporflask. I know people on ebay sell VTC5 for $100 or more and that is more then I am willing to pay but $30 isn't to high or too much to lose like $100 would be for 1 battery. If the VTC5's turn out to be the real deal then at least we know 1 vendor who has a few left and the next person who ask where to get a VTC5 we can point them to this thread. The question is gonna be, will someone want to pay that for one.
