Is Safe Cig really that bad?

New here.. I just ordered a safecig starter kit last night. still waiting for the order to be shipped.
I've been reading a bunch of reviews before buying. I originally wanted to go with smokestik because i wanted an e-cig that didnt look like a regular cigarette, but i couldnt find too many reviews on that brand, so i went with the safecig instead. Before coming to this forum I read others that all gave overall satisfactory reviews of safecigs. There were some negatives, but mostly positive, so I went with it. Have I made a super horrible decision?
A little about me as a smoker. I've been smoking for about 4 years. I think I smoke anywhere from 1/2 a pack to 3/4 of a pack a day. Depends on if I'm drinking or not. I smoke camel lights out of habit. Not really a taste preference as much as I just got used to saying "a pack of camel lights please." In reality I hate the taste of cigarettes so much that I always have to have something to drink when I smoke. The first thing i ever smoked was a hookah/shisha(?) just to try it out. The only reason I smoke now, I think is because it gives me a break from whatever I'm doing and I love the act of inhaling. Also feels good when I'm stressed out, which was the reason I started doing it regularly in the first place. But I am sick of the sneaking around, the smell, the $$$, the littering, and everyone telling me how nasty it is. I tried the patch.. made my arm sore and didn't stop the craving at all. I tried cold turkey.. started back up again as soon as someone offered me a cigarette. So here I am.. And I was oh so excited for my safecigs to come in the mail and now I'm not so sure I made the right choice. I know it's not a once in a lifetime decision and I can always try a different brand later..
So I'm hoping you guys can ease my mind and at least tell me that the safecig is an OK choice to start with, I hope?
If not, which one should I go with instead? Or what should be my step up after this.
Oh and I should say I don't really want to get into the 3-piece type of have to fill my own carts. I really like the cartomizer idea. It seems the most convenient, and I don't mind the safecig price. As long as it isn't more gross the the taste of real cigs, I'll be alright with the taste too. I did try a few drags of an e-cig at the mall (smoke anywhere, I think..) and it was fine for me.
Sorry for the length.. Will be waiting to see what the experienced people have to say!
Thanks in advance! :p

I don't know about the safe cig brand, but I started with a cheap mall brand and while it didn't last long it was enough to get me into vaping. The prefilled cartomizers don't really taste that great to me but for less than $20 you can buy blank/empty cartomizers and some juice to refill. I know you said you don't want to fill your own but the cheap poly cartos are easy and it just taste way better than prefilled. Just pop the cap off and drip in juice until full then vape away. You don't have to fill that often with cartomizers either. Its also cheaper to fill your own.

The safe cig will probably work OK for you. I assume the reviews you read where on the sellers site? That's always a good trick :).

Most people will get into refilling the cartomizers not only because of cost but for taste also. It's not that difficult, you will eventually get the hang of it.

A little hint for newbies when looking for a brand to buy:

Google for bad news, not good news.
Good news is usually hype.
and an open forum, not the sellers on-site testimonials are usually most accurate.

Hang in there, and learn all you can.

Alright, what I have learned aboput the safe cig:
The owner of the company has done some stuff to get some people mad. It does seem over priced. My father bought it before I found this forum. He was a smoker for 40 some years and was smoking 2 packs a day until I let him try my cheap 510 knockoff. He went on the net found the safecig and bought a kit. A fully charged battery last him almost a whole work day, but still smokes about a pack of analogs a day as well. So he is only getting about in total 4 hours of the day out of a battery. 1 of the 2 batterys crapped out, one of the micro boards burnt out. The drag off it is very nice and the tatse of the "traditional 18 mg" prefilled cartos is awesome. I have let him try all of my different American Freedom Smoke juices and he still likes his prefilled flavor over them. A prefilled cartomizer lasts him through the workday as well. from a 1-5 rating:
value: 1
taste/satisfaction: 4
reliability: 3
ease of use:5
I believe you'll be happy with it when it arrives. just dont disect the battery like my dad did if one craps out on you(it will void teh warranty)

Thanks guys for the replies so far! I read reviews on ecigarettes365.com and electroniccigarettesreviews.net, and also looked at some video reviews on youtube.com. I saw a few other forums similar to this one too but can't remember what they are anymore.. there are so many! I don't think any of the reviews I read were on websites affiliated with the seller.. the brands that pop up on these websites are usually greensmoke, e-smoke, safecig, and blu. And a lot of reviews said that blu is absolute crap, and greensmoke batteries don't last very long. safecig seemed the most reliable and with free shipping and lifetime warranty of the batteries, I figured it was a good place to start. I guess I got a little scared reading the different threads here, because a lot of what people are doing sounds complicated with mentions of dripping and whatnot. Lol.. I just wanted something i can take out of my pocket and smoke. :p
When I saw the cartomizer prices I figured that even if one carto is only equivalent to one pack, it is already so much cheaper than a pack of reg cigs. (In Mass a pack is over 8 bucks!!) so I figured I was getting a better deal still :p
So I guess i'll sit tight and patiently wait for my safecig and see how it goes. And if I don't like it maybe I'll buy the empty carto and fill it myself.. we shall see.. Really hoping this will get me off analogs forever and soon I can work my way down to zero nic!!

yeah my dad has to mess with anything electronic to discover the internals lol. You don't need empty carts to fill them yourself. The prefilled ones that you get have the nd cap glued in, but there are ways around this, such as dripping the juice in the battery connection end or using a syrienge. My father smoked ultra lights for the past few years and originally got 12mg cartos from safe cig which was nowhere near enough. He ended u p going to 18mg. However realize that there is no way to say what strength will work for you. Good luckl on getting off the analogs and good luck quitting all together. One thing I noticed is that when I srtarted vaping I also had it in my mind to quit nicotene. Now I'm content knowing it's only costing me 50 cents a day compared to 15.30 and I'm not bringing in all the nasty that comes in from the analogs.

Is the SafeCig bad? Well... for you, maybe not.

Most of these super-mini models are known for their terrible battery life... and their incredibly over-priced brand names. But to be honest, most of them *do* work.

Would something like that work for a heavy smoker? Probably not. But for a 10-15 a day smoker? Possibly. Either way, you'll want to find someplace where you can get parts without the insane mark-up (another member has given you a link above), and you will want to get juice to refill your cartomizers yourself, because otherwise it will cost you more than smoking (see below for why).

One thing, though. A cartomizer is NOT equal to a pack of cigs. No way, no how. Any company who tells you that their carts or cartomizers = a pack of cigs is lying.

There are high-capacity carts/cartomizers out there, but there's no way to quantify how much juice equals "a pack of cigs." Some vape differently than they smoke, some vape at higher voltages which uses up juice faster, etc.

But I will say this. The cartomizers for my Kr808 which the company says last "a pack of cigs" only lasted me about 3 hours. I'm not sure if it's even physically possible to smoke 20 cigs in 3 hours. ;)

Oh, ok, so if i ever want to fill them myself, I just get the juice.. gotcha..
So the safecig I got is a 4081 type battery right? Forgive the ignorance...
Does that mean I can buy a different brand 4081 battery and use the chargers I will be getting with my safecig kit?
Are they interchangeable? Also, are all cartos interchangeble within the same 4081 type?
Just wondering if I'm stuck with safecig and would have to buy a complete starter kit allover again if I want to change brands..

Just wanted to add: I smoke 1/2 to 3/4 pack a day but I don't really ever smoke a full cigarette. Usually only half, or just a few drags/puffs. So would this mean that a carto might last me longer than someone who smokes an entire cigarette everytime? Does the battery life depend on number of puffs?

Ignore brand names, look at models.

You have 510's and 808's you have M4, 801's and 901's Once you get an idea of the size, you can figure out what model that brand name is selling.

Most stand on their own individual thread patterns, except the 808 cartos will fit on a 901 battery. Most are now either atomizer(3pc) or cartomizer(2pc) styles so you can choose which you like more. I think the 808 is about the only one strictly cartomizer style.
It's the one I vape with, I love it to death, and I spent a whole $25 on it to start.

I used to smoke super slims, about the 1/3rd of the size of a traditional ciggie. About a half pack to a pack, depending. A cartomizer filled up with .6-7mls of juice lasts me most of the day, I fill twice a day on average. Wonderfully, I can just refill it if I vape more than usual.

Cost wise, hands down you will save money hand over fist by mixing and making your own juice mixes. You can always get into that later, first, learn the ropes :)

You will be saving money also cause that half burnt ciggie isn't wasted, you vape what you want, you put it down until you are ready for more, and it doesn't taste like a load of burnt ashes when you hit it again :)
Ever inventive, adapters have been designed to mix and match cartomizer/atomizers styles with different batteries.

Also saving money with a ton of other things you never thought of. Though if you are an inside smoker, you may find yourself investing in a giant cleaning spree when your sense of smell comes back ;)

My best bet is you will do ok with this until you get comfy with the idea of it. Then, you are going to want to expand to a better device. Go for it! You will have by that point already saved enough where you have broken even.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as wasting money getting into vaping. If you start ultra convenient (even at an expense) and move into more of a do it yourself sort of hobby-ish way further down the road then it's worth it.

I started with a $20 Njoy Npro Duo kit from 7-11 ($20) and within a week I was shopping for an eGo. Within two weeks of getting the eGo I was searching for a box mod, and ended up with the Reo Mini (love the mod, steep learning curve for a noob but otherwise hella great!). I knew as soon as I took my first drag off the second carto from the Njoy that vaping was for me and that I finally had an escape route out of wageslavery at the hands of Philip Morris.

To me, even if vaping turns out to be horribly harmful, it's at the very worst a break even from the near-100% fatality rate of smoking analogs.

If vaping is for you, your first eCig will -definitely- not be your last. Treat it like a hobby and it will help you get past the analog cravings. I will never go back to analogs, mainly because analogs don't come in RY4, maple tobacco, or any of the other thousands of amazing flavors.

Take a look at post 7, here, for some info on KR808D-1:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...me-find-right-automatic-mini-starter-kit.html

The analogalternative 808 kit at $35 is an attractive price. NHaler and vapor4life are the firms I've normally bought from, good customer service.

I started with a 4081, for a couple weeks -- quickly after I found this board I switched to an 808, got some 24 mg liquids (I was full pack a day of regular cigs, needed the 24), and stopped smoking completely.

(Others will say get 510/eGo/Riva family, or other products. Whatever works for you is what counts -- if your 4081 and the juice you get does the trick, at a price you're willing to pay, it's good enough. Personal experience -- make sure to get an extra battery, and charger, and stock up on pre-filled cartos or juice, if you find that what you bought is doing the job, as it bites to run out or have something fail.)

Good luck!
