Getting a new juice and watching it sit on the table for a couple days is torture. -K

A lot of it depends on the juice. Fruity juices don't generally require more than a cursory steeping, if that. The creamier, higher VG juices definitely do.

Most of the juices I vape now are extracted Tobacco's and they benefit from months, yes, months of steeping! I just make sure that I buy them in batches and steep as necessary.

What I do with ALL my juices is give them a good shake, then 2 days with caps and dripper tips off to evaporate any alcohol etc that may have been used in the mixing/extraction process. Then the caps go back on and it's shake shake shake every day for a week or two. After that, they go into my "long term" steep cycle, where I don't touch them for a month or two or four. :)

Like you, I was initially skeptical of steeping and I still am for the most part. If a juice starts out nasty, waiting isn't going to change anything.

Having said that, there are some tobacco juices, mostly the high end tobaccos that are also high in VG that do require a few weeks or so. Coffee can also benefit from a short steep 3-5 days.

If it's fruit, dessert, cocktails and soda type juices can be vaped right out of the mailbox.

Some do, some don't. I wasn't sure juice needed steeping at first either. I would usually vape everything as soon as I got it. That is until I ordered Menthol from Mt. Baker Vapor. I opened that package up on day one and filled a carto (my usual way to taste test juice before putting it into a tank), and MAN was that juice STRONG. Almost unvapeable, but after a week it mellowed out a lot and now I like it. Since then I've had juices that get better, some I thought lost flavor, and some that don't seem to change at all. So it's pretty much a trial and error thing.

Correct me if Im wrong, but I also find that when blending flavors you will also benefit from steeping as it gives the flavors time to meld together....applying heat and shaking can help to speed up the process. Happy Vaping!!!

That is correct, and not much different when juice is freshly mixed. Contrary to popular belief, the time that a juice takes to ship to you does not count as part of the steep process, because in reality you have not let it "air out".

Some folks shortcut the steeping process by using utlrasonic cleaning devices etc. but IMHO, time is the best method for steeping. :)

What about bakery flavored Juices. I Bought Cinnamon Sugar Cookie flavor from VapingZone, seems it may need some steeping. not sure -K

Bakery and dessert flavours definitely! 1 - 2 weeks after airing out for 2 days. ;)

Steeping is pretty much essential to get the most flavor. I think months is a bit drastic, but if you find you enjoy your juices that much more over that amount of time, good on you. Mine usually take a couple days to a week to steep. I leave pretty much all my juices open/capless at home all the time. I don't remove the tips, and have found they steep just as well that way. It's amazing how a sub-par flavor can really take off with just a couple days steeping.

Oh, I agree that months is a drastic amount of time for most "flavours" out there. Two weeks should more than suffice. With the extracted tobaccos though, there are some that just start to bloom around the month or two month mark and then get better from there. Check out the Natural Tobacco thread for more information. ;)

Hummmmmm? do I sense a marketing idea? Get your pre-steeped juices here !!!!
Another home business is born:toast:

You could just buy high end tobacco juices from bwb, ahlusion et al...and hold onto them for a while then resell as pre-steeped lol

Some great advice here from Dusty_D!
I use the exact same steeping method, to the letter! I am a fruity vape guy, and I have yet to find a juice that DOES NOT benefit from going through this process. We're all skeptical in the beginning, but the proof is in the pudding... Though taste is subjective I can say definitively that my favorite juices benefit greatly from this steeping/aging/maturing process. The trick is to get yourself into a spot where you have purchased juice "for the future", so that it's not a burden to allow it time to age.

This has also already been tried. There's a vendor or two out there that sell pre-steeped juices for a premium price under a different label than their regular juices. I'd rather do my own steeping thank you very much. :)

How do you know these steeped juices are steeped to the max? and not say, mid way steeped??

seems like it would be hard to really pin point a correct steeping time for max flavor.

and I don't know if this was mentioned already or not, but do PG vs VG blends need different steep times?
or a 50/50 blend like I and I think most people use??

I wonder why the e-juice vendors themselves don't do this from the get-go. They could offer "steeped" and fresh versions of the juice. Seems like people would be into it.
