Is taste really that subjective?

Frankly, I wish I never started dripping. Nothing tastes as good as dripping to me. :)

But in the mean time for you, until you get some dripping atties, you can improvise. Take an old cartomizer, remove the filling carefully. Don't disturb the center tube. Clean with hot water just like you'd clean a carto normally and let it dry a couple days. This will serve as a functional "tasting" dripping attie.

Drop a few drops down the side wall (not the center tube), add drip tip and vape. The flavor probably won't reach true dripping atty heights (although one of mine did). But it will allow you to get a sense of the flavor before wasting a carto or clearo on something that just doesn't cut it for you.

Great idea. Thank you!

Actually, that would prove nothing. If someone says they don't like a flavor, you may be missing one of your favorite juices.
Some already said ECBlend is no good. If I listened to that statement and not tried Dragon's Blood, I wouldn't have found one of my favorites. I just ordered some more a couple of days ago.

It would help to know what vendors and flavors you have tried and had no luck with.

It's all a conspiracy!!! Don't forget a lot of the vendors also follow these forums to hype their products. Don't believe the hype!

I started vaping in January. Bought all the popular juices everyone was raving about - bobas bounty, gorilla juice, copper creek juices, Ms Ts, BWB, virgin vapor etc All either tasted like crap, no taste @ all or like perfume to me!

After spending over $2000 on vaping hardware & juices I now have a shoe box filled with @least 50-100 juices collecting mold.

Finally narrowed down my all day vapes to about 10 less popular juices like Madvapes Spearmint, pink spot on the rocks, Vermillion juices, Tasty Vapor caramel popcorn, Truth Serum & Hawaiian Sunrise from Rawr.

The best advice you can get for juices is to ONLY buy sample packs till you find what clicks.

Huh? I think you are getting it twisted. I am not saying what not to buy, but asking what did NOT work for the OP already -- those are two different things you are conflating. Prove? By asking the OP what they didn't like, one may be able to better ascertain what to recommend considering so many of these vendors are using the same flavorings. :vapor:

I have found taste to be highly subjective. I bought a few juices from VapeDudes on rants and raves on the forums. I LOVED the Rootbeer flavor they have, I also got their Blue Honey and Apple Cider. It tastes synthetic and I don't get any honey. I let them steep for 2 weeks and it's the same. I feel like I'm vaping a little tree car air freshener. Definitely wasn't worth the 3 week wait, even for the rootbeer. The sad part is that while I'm waiting for a big order, these are all I have on hand right now and I'm f'ing sick of them.

But others, love their juices and I don't really understand why. I like flavors that taste like the real thing.

Unfortunately, a lot, if not the majority of these vendors are simply large scale DIY outfits. I was in that position before of runnning out of juice...let's just say that never happened again. You may want to check the classies or the PIF thread to obtain something that can get you though. Good luck!

i have only found one or two flavors that i really click with, after trying dozens, maybe even close to 100. fortunately, it was one of the first flavors i tried, and i've kept going back to it. i'm actually looking for a second or third favorite all day vape, because i'm afraid i am going to burn out on the one i love so much right now. i don't like the fruity or candy stuff (they have their place for me, just not as an all day vape), and i lean more towards the "tobacco" flavors. i can't say that the one i use as an all day vape does not have a true "tobacco" or cigarette flavor at all, but it's delicious and smooth, and it works for me...you could say it's in the tobacco "family", i suppose...at least it's in the vendor's tobacco section lol. I don't really want something that leaves the taste of a cigarette into my mouth anymore, after being off them for over six months. i have a favorite one now, but taste being what it is, you all know that you can burn out on anything...so, the search never ends. that's my point.

In nearly a year of vaping I have found only two flavours (any chocolate and any coffee) that I just can't vape. There is one vendor who's juices were foul.
I've been lucky as everything else I've tried has been a pleasure.
I'm not saying I'd buy a 100 ml of every flavour I've tried but I'd happily vape just about any of them.

But...
I use as close to 100% VG as I can. I find that I get an odd flavour with too much PG and it irritates my throat.

Taste is very subjective. Also if taste was not subjective then they would not sell olives in grocery stores. Those things are DISGUSTING!!

You proved your point, good sir! Taste IS subjective! I could eat kalamata olives all day long. Put them in some citrus zest and olive oil, let them marinate over night... FREAKING AMAZING.

He doesn't like olives, and I love them.

I am the same way abouy mayonnaise. I can't even see it on a sandwich. It makes me want to physically gag when I see it, and if I taste even barely a HINT of mayonnaise, it's projectile vomiting time. It's a physical reaction, I have no control over it. Same thing with fish. I grew up on Fort Myers Beach, and every once in a while we'd get hit by Red Tide. Hundreds of dead fish and sea life would wash up on shore, and the county did nothing to clean them up. Just let them rot on the beach. Talk about a heavy, wafting stench of rotting fish, and toss in the gulf rats that are seagulls, and anything fish-related to me just makes me want to toss my cookies.

So yes, taste is most definitely subjective.

The same way certain people don't want to piss off... certain other people. Take that comment however you want to. ;-)

Well, I don't really worry overly about offending people. Just because I don't like a juice you like (or vice versa) doesn't mean it's a bad juice. I never feel slighted because someone doesn't like one of my favorites. Taste is subjective.

I don't like mayo either. ;)

You didn't quite get the hidden meaning in my post. It's OK, though. But I cannot elaborate any further. ;-)

I know everyone says taste is subjective...but I feel like there's almost something wrong with me.

Several liquids I've bought at the recommendation of others or after reading reviews have not been even close to their description. And I've tried different delivery systems with the same result. And very few juices have any taste on inhale for me. (Only cinnamon and minty juices have and they're delicious but don't play nice with my asthma.)

I have so much stuff laying around that turning all brown and syrup-like from not getting used. Anyone else gone thru this? I'm almost 6 months into vaping at this point and my taste buds are still rebelling.

I am not sure if anyone mentioned this yet - but what device are you using? If I use something like a vivi or a clearo I have the same muted flavor problem. With a mesh wick I get the flavor (finally). If you are using the wrong atty with the wrong volts (standard ego with SR for instance) you will not get the full effect.

I found that my personal preference is about 7 watts, and the flavors come through for me. It took some trial and error to finally "get it" so I can taste them. Maybe the delivery is the problem for you too?

Also, PG/VG and nic ratios mean a lot to the flavorings. There are so many variables! And the biggest variable of all is going to be YOUR personal preferences and tastes :)
