Help, I have been working on some recipes that have Yellowcake in them all of the mixes have turned out very bad, today I was mixing up new batches trying to get things right and I noticed both my cakes smell like Playdoh anyone else I am sure I am not the only one who has this problem but I do not know what other cakes I should try anyone out there have this problem and find one that works? I have been using Cake (Yellow) FW and Yellow Cake JF and both have the same smell. I am afraid to do a standalone mix to see if that is why the juices are funky but I have a feeling it is.

I have the same thing going on. I think I'm using to high of a percentage. And not letting it steep long enough. But I'm not 100% certain.

I am only using 2% and is the first test which is a week after mixing. I am letting them sit longer but not sure what the hello is going on.

JoJo on ELR sai the NicVape old fashioned doughnut steeps into a very good doughnut. Has a touch of cinnamon & sugar that should play nicely with your blueberry experiment. Does have a play doh note the first week tho, at 2-3 weeks it disappears.

Nic vape is high but if you subscribe to the newsletter there is always a site wide coupon for 50-30% off. Most recent is still ongoing 30% off code 30offNV. I would wait for the steep as well first. The new FA donut flavor is getting good buzz but hasa chocolate icing/glaze. Might make for a good pb & banana mix. BCF has them in stock now.

I don't touch anything I make with flavors that have cake, custard, vanilla, or cream in their name for at least 30 days. Just as a rule of thumb.

I had not been messing with cake until now but I will keep that in mind thanks

Those, like tobacco flavorings, are notoriously long agers. They take weeks sometimes to “come into their own”. Fruits I give a week, savory and tobaccos I give a month. I seem to get the best results that way.

I was pleasantly surprised by JF yellow cake, pretty good in less than a week, but I don't have the play doh affliction to contend with.

Well I have put all my mixes with cake on the bottom so will see how one batch is in three weeks which will make a month on them and the ones I mixed today well a month off I hope I can get this right without having to buy every cake under the sun.

Make sure to let us know .

Oh I plan on it just wish The Doctor would show up so I could jump ahead a few weeks and try it now or at the very least Doc Brown, but alas they are both too busy helping the Dolphins battle the Koala overlords.

I don't usually like cake flavors personally, so I substitute pie crust or cookie flavors for them when I adapt a recipe. But with that being said, I may not be patient enough with the steep time either.
if you like meringues you would probably like WF (SC) angel cake, it's meringue notes are quite lovely and works well in a cookie base.

Curing times annoy me as well when I am trying to do something like this and I want to know now but I just try to forget about them for a bit it never works but I try and that is what counts right?
