Is the battery causing a misfunction?

I have a Zmax V5 with an Efest 18650 battery. All day long today my mod has acted up. Settings change randomly, I get a "low vol" message on the LCD, sometimes it just doesn't even heat up. I noticed this morning that I could feel the mod itself getting hot in certain places in my hand when I pushed the button.

I just put the batt on the charger and it reads 50% full, and 3.8v.

Is it the battery thats causing the issues, or is this more of a circuitry issue?

I own a sigelei Zmax Telescope that when the threads get "dirty" it will turn the display off. I'd suggest that you get some alcohol and an old toothbrush and throughly clean both the male and female threading. Once done, buy a bottle of Noalox (available in the electrical dept of Home Depot $6). Apply the Noalox to the male threads. Hopefully this will solve you problem.

I have a older Sigelei Zmax, I think version 3 but it has a random menu popup problem and its a hassle. I think when you kinda roll your finger over the button rather than straight flat press, it multi fires and brings up the menu. The "Low Vol" is when the unit is set too high for the coil ohm so you don't get a nasty burnt hit.

No, but they can have a film build up. We live in an ever changing environment. Plastics/Vinyls off gassing, PG/VG residue anything that can land on the threads/pins will interrupt clean contact.

As said - Clean threads with alcohol. Also wipe the +/- contacts as well as the 510 connection on top. This should be a part of your regular maintenance routing.
