first off learn all you can about battery safety and OHMS law before you get near a Mech mod and rebuildables. You can get a good tasting decent cloud using a simple VV ego twist and a kanger areotank to get started. Your e-juice will also play a part higher VG will give you more clouds( but not as much flavor IMHO)

Hey guys/gals. I am nuts about learning how to get into big vapor production, and I was wondering if Rebuildable drip atomizers and mods were the only way to get some massive vape action?

If anyone wouldn't mind steering me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm fairly educated in batteries Ohms, voltage, wattage etc. Since I was/still am into car audio. I am currently on a 1300mah Twist with a pro tank 2.

I have read about Vg and pg and I know that the higher concentration of Vg will create more vapor (at the expense of possible losing "some" flavor". I currently vape 50/50 and 40/60 juices my 40/60 is higher vg.

try some 100% VG juice to see what is possible(personally I dislike high VG because it leaves a film giving me vapors tongue) bult it does blow clouds...the areotank also has dual coils and airflow control to allow for bigger clouds...glad to know you will be safe :)

i actually get pretty good clouds out of my protank since i rebuilt it with a microcoil. check out rip trippers video on rebuilding the protank with a microcoil and go with that. i would also reccomend getting a cheaper mech and a RDA(rebuildable dripping atomizer) ive got a smoktech magneto and a smoktech scar and i get a pretty big cloud out of it with a 1.2ohm microcoil and organic cotton build. the magneto cost me about $35 and the scar was $8. pair it all with a GOOD IMR battery of the 20amp variety and it will be pretty safe. also look into getting yourself a good VV/VW mod as well. i went from an ego to a vamo to an MVP v2. ego's are good to start with but if your going into rebuilding than its time to upgrade

Funny thing lol I was watching his videos in between posts. I did not know he had on on rebuilding the protank. I will have to go check that out.

As for the suggestions/recommendations on Mods/Rebuildables, I really appreciate it.

I guess the next question is. Where would you recommend getting kanthal and what guage), and what material do you guys recommend getting for the wicks?

i woul doubt being able to get it at a hardware store. kanthal is a resistance wire and isnt very common outside of vape shops(as far as i know). ive had good luck finding kanthal on ebay for good prices. i use 30ga canthal wrapped around a 5/64 drill bit using a home made coil jig. just get a piece of wood, drill a hole with the bit and glue it in, then just put a wood screw about a inch or so away from the bit to hold one end of the wire and start wraping. see pic for details IMG_20140207_042131_099.jpg

I would buy it from a vape shop personally Kanthal is not that costly...my last purchase was less than $12 for a 30 foot roll and 30 feet will last a LONG time at less than 4 inches per coil

Is there an online site that you would recommend? The one local vape shop where I live that actually carries mods rba's etc. doesn't carry it. At least I'm about 95% sure they don't. ( I live in a pretty small town, so vaping isn't that well known around here )

I have purchased it at 3 sites including ebay and 101vapes. It would be unusual for the shop selling the rba's to not carry at least a couple of gauges of kanthal however most local shops do charge by the foot. Still a great way to get your feet wet so to speak. remember to boil your cotton balls a few times to remove any residue and let dry completely

Once again, thanks for all your help everyone! I'm going to stop by the Local shop today and see what rda and mod I could pick up for fairly cheap for my first time. I get pretty busy on the weekends, and I'm on a pretty tight budget. But if I do get something this weekend, I will build it and come back and show you guys the results of my first build :)

Ok, couldn't sleep lol. I have been online looking around for cheap mechanical mods. I have ran into an issue of not knowing what sites are legit/good, and finding a site that has a good variety. I have read that you can get a decent mechanical mod for around $30 +/- .. If you all could recommend a few sites that offer some cheaper mechanical mods, so I can have some options. I would greatly appreciate it. Also any mods that come as a kit would be cool too, say mod, battery, charger etc. Thanks in advance

i know that feeling. i personally have the smoktech magneto. great telescoping mod and a magnetic switch. ran me about 30 bucks and as far as i know they dont make a clone of it. you could pick up a kamry kit for pretty cheap but if your looking for really cheap youll probably have to go the clone route from china and get the batts and charger seperate. just make sure that you get either 20amp or 30 amp batteries to be safe but theyre probably going to be about 10 bucks a piece. if your going the route of rebuilding a protank a mechs not really needed. all i use is my MVP v2 and i never have any issues with it. just make sure that you dont overlap your wraps and if needed make a jig. that one i showed cost me the better part of 5 bucks and about 5 mins of my time with a drill and sandpaper. do check out RIP Trippers vids on rebuilding. he does some crazy builds but just sitck with the standard micro coil and cotton wick, just remember to boil the ORGANIC cotton first 3 times for about 15 mins each time to make sure its clean.

I am not planning on rebuilding my protank. I am wanting to go mechanical and get a rebuildable atomizer. Also I am subbed to RIP Tripper and I love his videos. That's one of the reasons I want to get into Rebuildables, Because experimenting and finding new coil patterns and coil builds that you like, sounds really fun to me!
