Is the Riva SE eGo a "cheap knock-off"?

I posted a little while ago about how some of my batteries weren't doing as well as I had hoped. I currently have the T-Rex and a few of the comments were to stop buying cheap knock-off PV's and buy better quality. So I think I'd like to buy another eGo type setup and was curious what you guys thought about the Riva SE's? I have no problem buying the "regular" Joye eGo, but I wanted to first check on the Riva, cause that might be my preference between the two.

On a side note, LF has been great about the batteries so far. I'm mailing them back under warranty. This isn't meant to be a knock on them in the least.

Thanks!

Yes there is a difference between the ego and Riva's. The ego batts come off the charger at 3.4-3.7v, the Riva's come off at 4-4.2v:) I have several sets of the SE batts from LF and they're going strong. I use them for menthols =th:) Use the ego's for sweet flavors, sometimes. I'm really partial to the Riva's:)

Cheap knockoff in price, yes, but working well for me after a month. I have the Riva 510 Lite Bundle, 750 mAh, which is more than the regular eGo, lasts long enough for me. One of the delicate 2.2 ohm attys that came with did die in a week, LF replaced under warranty.

Edit: I stand the Riva vertically and the gold plating is gone quick. :)

As RIMP indicated, Riva's and Joye eGo's differ. Basic battery are identical but different circuit boards used. Joye eGo is pulse width modulated to a lower voltage (and wattage) than a Riva. Joye eGo a bit more consistent voltage over a discharge cycle than a Riva but Riva mostly at voltage that produces about 13% higher wattage than eGo. And, for me, I don't find the higher wattage to cause more burning type tastes. Riva is less expensive than eGo. I have used both and have not observed one as being superior to the other in terms of longevity and defects at initial purchase. Personally I favor the Riva's. I see Riva as different - not a knock off at all.

I've had both and another eGo-style and I gotta say I like the Riva best. The button is more comfy, the finish is gold-tone instead of silver-tone, the voltage is higher for fuller, more flavorful vapor. I won a raffle at the 1st E Tennessee Vapinteers meet in Knoxville for the Riva EM with 1100mah batts and LR atties. The atties weren't my thing, but the batteries were a step up from the eGos and Volcano Infernos I had been using.

Cool guys, thanks for the confirmation. I thought this was the case, I just wanted to make sure. I'll be ordering a kit soon.

Don't forget to click "20% off" on top of LF page. The kits should start under $30. I don't know why they don't just drop the prices and be done with, so we don't have to keep reminding people.

The prices of the rivas are lower than the eGo because eGo have a min selling price, they would probably be sold for a lower price but Joye are strict about this. The price of the Riva has come down for us but when we first bought it, there was not TOO much difference in the price that we were buying them for. Issues with any batteries seem to be pretty low at the moment with Riva's, I would buy what you feel comfortable with. We don't have the T-Rex in the UK so I can't comment on that device.

What is under the plating? My Riva is in the mail, but I really don't want any "bling". I'll probably dremmel it off if it's too flashy.

Underneath, just a dirty, dull, metallic, the opposite of bling (not my favorite word). Even the band around the button is fading. Personally, I don't like the gold finish and rather have the silver eGo look, but Riva is functional, good enough for me.
