hmmm i duno about 2012. Its right around the corner. I guess were going to be in the center of our galaxy. Right now im just planning on having a pretty big party on december 20th, 2012. We'll see what happens to our drunk a$$es at midnight. hehe

It's as good a date as any for "The End Times", but I won't put my faith in a calender that was only translated within the last 40 years. If everyone tried to live their life to it's fullest everyday, they would not be so concerned when it would end.

Ha! Funny you should ask. Mr Harold (crazy brain) Camping has said the world will end on May 12th 2011 as Jesus returns for the end times celebration!! Or maybe its the 21st? Anyway.... Im getting out the popcorn at midnight that night!

I'm not going to go on one of my rants about 2012, I've always had a fascinated with it and have always believed it would end, but I'm beginning to thing it's more of a spiritual thing and people will change not the world ending but an ending to the world as we know it.... like I said not going to get into detail I don't have time or the stamina to right a 20 page theory on it like I would like to.

TheIllustratedMan - where in upstate NY do you live? Just curious because of people I know calling Yonkers Upstate NY, making it so I can't call Plattsburgh Upstate because mid-state already claimed that title so now I'm stuck calling it the "North Country"... lame.

The ancient Mayan Calendar ends in december of 2012 when the earth will align with the sun and the center of the galaxy. This doesn't necessarily mean the end of the universe but possibly the end of an era. We really don't know what they believed would happen in this time.

The Mayans were incredibly advanced scientists and astronomers for their time. On the other hand they also practiced brutal rituals of human and animal sacrifice and used cacao beans as currency. IMO, this somewhat discredits Mayan prophecy. I doubt the world is ending.

On the other hand, if the world does end in 2012, I'm sure it will be Obama's fault. J/K.

I promise you the world will not end in 2012. If however it does, it will have nothing to do with the Mayan calender. I base that on rational empirical thinking only but everbody is welcome there so called "theory". As a side note I actually knew a guy who was going for his masters degree who actually and honestly believed the world would end in in 2012. Why the hell was he going for his masters degree when he could be maxing out credit cards and living large? In his mind the world was ending soon mind you. I should have asked and I regret not doing so.

A HUMAN made the calendar!!!
HUMANs are far from perfect even though some think they are.
Other HUMANS are trying to derive some meaning from the calendar. Their prerogative I guess, but I’m not living in fear from the predicted gloom and doom.
I believe that God put us here and he will be the one to say when it is going to end.
And the only book you're going to find the hints to when it will finally end, will be found in it.
Even then, no exact time is given. That is totally up to God. If you’re scared of “The End,” get right with him and then there won’t be any reason to be.
