The Acorn tank I believe is just unscrew the top and fill. Plus it should wick better because unlike in a regular CE2, the wicks aren't compressed against the side of the tube where they enter the heating coil because the tank is much wider.
The Acorn uses the CE2 guts and has a screw top for easy filling. While you don't have to punch cartos, you have to cut down the CE2 engine, which is harder. Or you can buy replacements. CE2s last for ages though so you don't have to swap them out as often as a DCT.
Performance wise, I don't have an Acorn so I can't say for sure. I had a similar CE2 tank and it did alright about the same difference between a CE2 and a fillered carto really.
Yea really though at $4 each, why would you ever want to mess with cutting anything down? Just buy a replacement and stick on it. I've been vaping mine exclusively for almost two months...no issues yet.
