Is there a difference between dry burning and just vaping with no liquid after cleaning?

I've been frustrated with the "burnt taste" with some of my clearomizers (V2 EX blanks and Kanger E-Smarts). I soaked them and shook them up in some vodka and let them sit, then rinsed them out with water and let 'em dry. Now I'm going to dry burn it, but my only manual battery is faulty and only works sometimes. So, is there any difference between dry burning with a manual and just vaping on it a bit before putting any liquid in and just dealing with the nasty tasting smoke that burns off it?

I also noticed that when dry burning with the manual (when I can get it to work), even after it stops smoking during the dry burn, there's a little bit of a burnt smell after I blow it out. Is this normal? Is this going to come through when I refill it with e liquid?

Well, after the dry burn, you have to clean the coil again, or else you do get a bad taste. That's an important step in the process. If I understand your question correctly, one more wash with warm water should do it. Welcome to the Forum and Vape ON!

Okay, good to know. That having been said now, I have a couple more questions/concerns... Firstly, it seems like I only get 2-4 fills on each clearomizer (usually only about halfway up each time, so between .5 and .9 ML depending on the clearomizer) before I start to taste that "burnt taste" creeping in.. Is this normal?

Secondly, are there any tricks using household objects to speed up the drying out process after washing them? I'm only rotating a couple clearo's so it's frustrating to have to wait at least a day (or 2-3 now if I'm to wash them out after a dry burn as well) to begin using them again.

And lastly, since I'm still new to vaping and am still purchasing primarily sampler packs of e liquid, if I empty out the remaining liquid from a clearomizer that's started to taste burnt, and use it in a clean one, is this likely to produce a burnt taste? I've been reluctant to fill any clearomizers all the way up, because I feel like once it starts to taste burnt, I'm wasting all the liquid I'd put into it.

This has been pretty frustrating for me, because when they're working right they're GREAT. But when it tastes even a little burnt it ruins the entire experience for me.

Thanks in advance for all your replies!

I don't know how well you're going to do dry burning with an auto battery. It's probably possible, but more trouble than it's worth. You'd have to pull for a long time, you can't actually see the coils while you pull, and you're going to get that gross exhaust in your mouth.

Are they top coil clearos? With the wicks coming down the tank? If so, you may be getting dry hits rather than there being build-up on the coils. A dry hit can give a similarly burnt taste.. try tilting the liquid upwards and saturate the wicks and see how that works (if they're top coil anyway).

Sorry for the n00biness, but I'm not sure if they're top-coil or bottom-coil. They're the following 2 clearomizers:

Kangertech E-smart Clearomizer

And

V2 EX Blanks (3-Pack) - V2 Cigs

I do make an effort to tip them so that the liquid goes towards where the wicks go into the atomizers, as I'd read that dry hits can produce a burnt taste. With clearos, if I get one dry hit, is that going to make the vape taste burnt until I clean it again?

Yeah those are top coils.. and the V2's look like they have short wicks so when the tank gets low you would HAVE to tilt. And no, one dry hit will not ruin the tank full you have, just get the wicks saturated again and you should be good.

I sometimes use a blower dryer.
