Is there a genuine EHPRO True upgrade?

Hey Guys,

You bunch helped me a lot when I replaced my leaky, juice guzzling Siren 2 with an EHPRO True. You weren't wrong when many of you recommended the True and I have since added a second one which I rotate throughout the day with tobacco-ish juice in one and fruit-ish juice in the other. I mix my own juice using flavour shots from Chef's Flavours in the UK, 35pg/65vg at 7ml nic is my sweet spot.

I found that the 3mm coils I was familiar with resulted in having to trim down the cotton to fit the juice slots, so 2.5mm, 7 turn, 28 Kanthal simple DIY wire coils work a treat with no dry hits or flooding issues. 6 watts is enough to give me a nice flavour and no hassle from excessive clouds (she-who-must-be-obeyed must be obeyed, obviously ;) ).

However, I see all these shiny things and their rave reviews, and can't help wondering if the tech might have moved on? Am I missing out on something, or is the True up there still? I do get some slight seepage from under the tank, guessing the press fit construction loosens up a little over time, and so a design with a solid base might be an improvement.

True is a good flavor tank, and that won't change with time, of course it's not as good as the Kayfun prime, but it is a faction of the cost.

You can go down the rabbit hole searching for the next best thing, I have spent a fortune on tanks over the years and most are collecting dust begging for some attention.

Also nowadays, most MTL tanks are very close on flavor, only so much you can do with design for flavor, people can list all different tanks that they are think are the best, everyone is different, I've tried tanks people have raved that are awesome and I just find blah.

So if you like the flavor from the True, then my advice, stick with it, but if got money to blow, then try something new, you may find something you like more :)

The True is still a pretty good Tank, even though there are some other really great competitors out there nowadays.
I recently got the BP Mods Pioneer rta with all the accesable airflowpins after some recommendations, and i like it more then the True, vapes even smoother and the flavour seems to be better too, while having the downside that the tank is screwed onto metal which could become a probleme in the long run.

This is why forums as so invaluable. To read the reviews from supposedly trusted experts, every new tank is the best thing ever, and many of the 'tried and trusted' top names are actually fairly average. Even in forums people rave about their own tank, but unless they have used them side-by-side with others then the opinion is of limited value.

Shinyitus is a serious problem in this game, and one I seem to be fighting a loosing battle against, but the thin wallet is proving to be sufficient obstacle right now. I will keep an eye on any further suggestions while I take a look at the Pioneer. Thanks peeps :)

    Hi Katya!

@Northnet , at the time I first tried True, it was the best ever. I've since found the BD Vape Precisio to be much better. I still use the True, but my main tank is the Precisio for the last year and a half. It's super easy to build, never a leak or gurgle, and provides the most dense, saturated vape I've ever had- whether wide open, or virtually shut down. I usually go fairly open, but occasionally do a much tighter draw.
    PRECISIO MTL PURE RTA

Not only is it a better vape, but really a better investment for the long term. True's cap/gasket won't last forever, and is press-fit, so it can't be repaired or replaced. There's really nothing to wear out on the Precisio, other than a couple of orings. Some mentioned concern about the threading on the ultem, but that isn't routinely unscrewed, unless you want a complete breakdown for cleaning- so just be careful, and it ought to last virtually forever.

I wish it used philips screws, but that's really the only tiny thing I could fault it for. But the screws are unusually long, so you don't have to worry about unscrewing too far and losing them. It's solid as a rock. The wick wells are perfect for my preferred 2.5mm coil (like yours, 7 wrap). Something I'd have never thought of, but appreciate is you don't get condensation under the tank, because of the way the airflow ring is above it:

Another unexpected thing is that it has both a long af slot, and multiple holes. That's not that unusual, but using the holes to get the exact same intake of air as an equivalent as a portion of the slot actually gives a completely different quality to the vape. I alternate at times from a portion of the slot to 2-3 holes, and enjoy both differently.

It's really a high end tank, at a fairly budget price. Not many places have it- I've gotten them at Heavens Gifts and 3F.

I can't recommend it strongly enough. Here's the thread on it if you're interested: BD Vape Precisio MTL

@Brewdawg1181 great reply, thank you. I did follow the Precisio discussion which developed on the infamous 'Calling all dog lovers' thread. I note that it has the solid base that will prevent seepage through pressed components. But I cannot bear the look of Ultem, disgusting colour that looks like perspex that has been left out in the sun too long!

Now that BD have designed the Pioneer, is it fair to assume that it is an advance on the Precisio?

As for the fluid I get between tank and mod, I have always assumed it to be liquid that has seeped out of the tank, just as it did with my Siren 2. But, perhaps it is merely condensate, never thought of that, duh. I do get little beads of condensation sitting on the exposed mod platform (Aegis) close to the air hole, so maybe it finds its way back under the tank with capillary action. The centre pin 'well' is always bone dry, so nothing is leaking out around the connector.

It may be better than the Precisio, but I wouldn't necessarily assume that. I'm sure it'll be well built, but it looks like a completely different design- nothing like the Precisio. I remember loving my Kayfun Mini-3, and the Prime looked like a big improvement. But it was a huge disappointment for me. As good as Precisio is, though, if I were in the market for new tanks I'd definitely try it. Let us know if you get it and like it.

Oh, and just a thought: If ultem is the only reason you wouldn't try Precisio, they do make these conversions. They look nice, but I haven't tried one.

Fair comment. In fact I have read quite a long thread on the Pioneer 'in another place' and they seemed to have a lot of aggro getting the wicking right, to the point of resorting to bottom filling! Life is too short to spend it messing around with tanks. I am swinging back towards a Precisio, especially since I see they now do it in 'gunmetal', no yellow ultem in sight!

And it gets worse! I have spotted a few of the 'side by side' mods...

I have to say, it looks a bit 'awkward'. But right now just finding a UK Precisio is proving a challenge! Where have all the suppliers gone? Or do they just not stock it? In the current climate, importing from Europe is looking very expensive, they are so busy trying to punish Britain they seem to lose sight of the fact it is EU businesses missing out on trade.

I'm after a Dark Knight version, but everywhere I have found it in the UK is out of stock. Does anyone have one they want to move on?

Wish I could help, but I've already mentioned the only 2 places I know to get it- 3F and Heaven Gifts. Sorry, but I can't part with any of mine - in fact, if funds weren't so low due to covid shutdowns, I'd pick up a couple more.:(

BD Vape doesn't sell them direct any more, but you should contact them thru their website or FB to ask where you can get them.

Get a kayfun lite. 2019 or the new plus I hate to say this but i own both an authentic and a sxk clone and i use the clone on my at work mod since i beat the hell out of that mod and drop it constantly i work in a cnc machine shop and that clone is just as good as the authentic the stainless is softer on the clone but if you dont want to shell out the cash its a great rta. Doesn't leak or gurgle i use simple round wire builds 28g ss . Its the only tank i use anymore.

That's interesting! If I could have sourced one, I would have a Precisio by now. Haven't heard the Artemis mentioned before, but eventually decided to give the Kayfun name a go, but a clone since everyone is saying they are as good as the real deal. As it happens just last night I opted for a Kayfun Lite clone, Edd Zachary Light MTL RTA by YFTK for just shy of £20. It will be interesting to see how it compares...
