Is there such thing as an eliquid connoisseur?

It can for sure, one of my favorites has became more about the taste than the nic. I am glad the nic is there but for me it's become the different flavors that make it superbly enjoyable and tasting the different layers of it. As well as letting certain liquids steep to see how the flavor profile changes over time. When I first started vaping I vaped very simple liquids with just one flavor but now I prefer liquids that have multiple flavor profiles to them packed in one bottle.
I have slowly worked my way down from 18-24mg of nicotine down to 6 at the current time and could see myself in the near future vaping 0mg and getting the same enjoyment out of it that I do now.

Im afraid to try new eliquids without taste testing them because there are a lot of awful vendors I wasted money on in the past. Some are good, most are bad, its a hit or miss.

Many e-liquids are already savored for their flavor profiles.
The main issue is that it depends so strongly on what equipment you're using to vape it on. The exact same liquid will taste different at different power levels, on different heads, with different wicking material, and different coil geometries. I know that the common phrase is "Taste is subjective", but I think the hardware has much more of an impact than individual tastes.
My favorite e-juice, Deadly Sin (GLV) can taste completely different at low power (kind of like a rice-krispy treat) or at higher power (much more cinnamon, closer to a cinnamon roll). But if I really want a cinnamon roll, MBV's "Cinnamon roll" is actually a lot closer; you can actually taste the buttery-bread part. I know lots of juices that are lousy in an EVOD, but pretty good in a dripper.
With beer and cigars, you don't really have this variability.

I've honestly found some that are close such as Halo's tobacco blends.
Another thing I noticed is that pairing some liquids with craft beer or small batch liquor really accents both.
I've had better luck trying places with rave reviews. I maybe liked something from 1/2 of them. It is a lot better than ordering blind. There is nothing to be afraid of. You waste some money. Order small bottles.
Hey, since there are a few connoisseurs here, hehe don't mind me asking if which healthcabin juices are good? or let say what is the mix with them?
They come really cheap, 1.5 usd per bottle of flavor concentrate, and even if I were to use a paid courier it is still of reasonable pricing. The best part, it arrives in 3-5 days.
Anyway, just to share, I've tried and enjoyed their RY4, cheesecake, cereal (waffle crisps like), almond, Green Apple, Grape, watermelon, Juicy peach (mix it with the cheesecake). Their fruity flavors generally don't go wrong with 20% flavor, 80% 50/50 or 70/25 vg to pg ratio, a coffee stirrer flat scoop of crushed menthol crystals.
For menthol crystals, I found that the best way is just to pound them up to powder like form, add a little by little into your mix after you're done and shake to dissolve them real quick. No heating is involved or any complicated steps just crush, drop, and shake. For me that provides a smoother throat hit and add this cool after feel which I enjoy.
Those flavors that I dislike from HC or actually mix wrongly idk.. would be bubblegum, it sucks because it simply tastes so damn fake and chemical-ish, not at all like bubblegum. Pina colada, damn the pineapple is far too strong. Root beer, not the creamy root beer I expected, should have ordered the dr. pepper one instead. Italy cheese, some enjoyed it but I didn't because it kinda smells too much like puke ( I do love cheese what is life without them, think pizza, or wine tasting) but this is too much. I'm neutral with their vanialla, caramel butter, caramel, cotton candy, I think they are good for mixing with other flavors. Not to forget mentioning cotton candy which isn't the carnival kind of cotton candy you would expect, it is just plain sweet no smell nothing, just sweet tasting.
Alright that is all from me, sorry for this long draggy post, hopefully this post contains information that will actually help you guys and at the same time hope to receive some tips. I'm located in a small island where everything is illegal and it is hard to get flavors here, although I think I can import flavoring from TPA/TFA, looking forward to try mixing straberries % cream, vanilla custard etc. Cheers Guys!

That's why I read and watch every review possible on whichever juice I'm buying. You can find reviews on practically anything.
I was at a vape shop this past weekend. They had just opened and just the husband/wife owners were there. I sat at the bar and tried a lot of juices. There was an off-hand comment that "this" juice has 14 ingredients. I didn't really care because I am my own connoisseur.

I had a juice, blueberry tobacco from rocket fuel vaped, tasted better to me in an evod than in my genesis. So, I vaped it in my evod. I bought the juice from a b&m, and tested it in the evod. It just so happened that I liked the thicker fruit at evod level than the full bodied blue tobacco from the genny.
For the most part though, there is a wide scale of quality of juices. It comes down to the manufacture, the ingredients they use, and their creation process.
Hardware does change the experience of the Vape for sure, but I still believe quality stands out despite hardware.
