Is this a safe set up?

Hello, I haven't been to Eastmalls supplier forum in a while. But I'd like to report that my Indulgence at 6 volts is still running strong.

Anyways I was thinking about getting a passthrough for my Indulgence. But instead of plugging the passthrough into my computer, I was thinking about getting a wall plug adapter, such as one of these:USB AC Power Supply Wall Adapter MP3 Charger US 2P Plug - eBay (item 260481149529 end time Dec-16-10 23:22:01 PST)

And I was wondering if this was a safe set up.

This won't work for you as the output is to low. You need at least 2 amp output.

Is there one that puts out that much? Or is this a fail from the get go? I'm not really a electronic tech whiz..but is says the output is 5.5 volts. But then it also says DC 200~330mA in the output section as well.

Well from what I gathered...if I'm correct, about 500ma comes from a normal computer USB port and the Indulgence passthrough says that it can be used on a computer USB, so I do see why this wouldn't work.

Most (not all) computers are rated at giving 500ma output at the USB port.
I have an overspec motherboard and it will deliver three times that.
Some can deliver that but will fry the USB ports
Some will try and will fry the motherboard
Some will try and work fine but kill the motherboard or the port or both when you get a shorted atty.

In so far as the wall socket is concerned: I have a pile of wall plugs here which don't work with a passthrough (Indulgence or any other)
I have a socket in my car which is rated at 1000ma which works and yet several in my house rated at 2000ma which don't.
Ask on the forum about particular power supplies to find out if they have worked for others.
I gave up buying them and run it off my PC.
BUT
I have a motherboard that can handle it (maybe)
AND
I am experienced in the computer black arts.

Yeah, that self powered USB hub plugs into the wall and gets its power that way without the need for a computer.

I use my Indulgence passthru all day everyday 0--

I use it
ONLY with a self powered hub,
NEVER from the computer,

altho like Music - my puter will more than handle it - (maybe )

the self powered USB hub plugs into the wall
and gets its power directly from your electricity power grid,
without the need for a computer.

This is the best way,
and the only safe way
to use a Passthru ------------

Good call. If you have a 12v DC adapter lying around, you're good to go. If not, you might want to pick up a generic universal adapter from the dollar store or Amazon.com or something (we don't sell them anymore).

When I asked David about it a few minutes ago, he seemed to indicate that we had at one time. Thanks for clearing that up though. My next question to him was going to be "so why did we stop selling them?" haha. I probably misunderstood what he said, or it was something that was only offered at product launch and discontinued.

im sure different places carry these adapters..but vikingkings has a 2 amp adapter that works with the passthru

Best Buy has the AC USB hubs. That's what I use...
