Is this like a beta test or something?

Well, the regular carts are 9.95, and the premiums are 10.95. So not really a matching price.

No, I meant 2 different "premium" models (at the same price point). There are the rubber-tipped ones, and the hard plastic-tipped ones; and they differ from eachother in more ways than just the tipping.

I think yano might be referring to how some of the premium cartos have the soft rubber cap, and others have the hard plastic cap that breaks if you try to remove it. There's been a little speculation that those two types are made by two different manufacturers.

I really don't know if they are different (other than the caps), but it seems that the cartos have been performing equally well according to the reviews here.

There is certainly more difference than just the caps. The "soft cap" variety has a much lower resistance.. and therefore generates more power and consumes more wattage. They are almost "510 atty class".

They are referring to what Leaford says in this video

Thanks. I had not seen that Video, but learned a few things.
  • Leaford is working his tail off in China to continuously improve their product line; and doing a darn good job.
  • V4L has aparently chosen the manufacturer that produces the rubber tipped carts to make their cartos going forward. I guess we will still continue to get the hard tipped ones until that initial "test" inventory is sold off, and/or the rubber tipped ones become available in the quantities required.
Great stuff - thanks again.

V4L is rushing to bring us product improvements. Rather than sit on something in their office for the next six months and argue amongst themselves, they appear to do initial testing, then let the market decide. Call it "beta" if you will, but it appears to me that they really care about giving us the best they can source and they'd rather err on the side of dual (or even triple) sourcing. Release early, release often. It's tried-and-true.

Whatever you call it, it is working. V4L rocks. I'm looking forward to when they've settled on the best stuff and have a consistent stock of premium cartos and premium batteries with the issues like the hard stuck caps and the battery noise resolved (the whistle from the new battery in the video supplements Leaford's tweety bird nicely), and the new products like the 5 volt battery and VK1 are out. Not that V4L is likely to stop there, so there will probably be something new and improved always on the horizon, but the growing pains are SO WORTH IT. I'm happy with the old product and looking forward to the new. I never recommend any other supplier out there anymore (aside from a few unique juices), V4L is the go to place.

And the forum support here is outstanding from forum member innovations like the Taryn Spin and Dogsbody Refill Method to the way V4L collects and reacts to feedback. Love it love it love it.
