I recently purchased a 5v omg mod from v4l. I didn't realize mods could blow up in your face and catch fire, so I didn't do much research. What I've done since, doesn't make sense to me. Here's the description from v4l:

Have you been searching for that extra power in your vaping experience?. Are you frustrated with other mods that are the size of a baseball bat?. Well look no further.. We are proud to introduce the OMG Mod.. This little gem has everything that the power vaper will need.. 5 volts of raw power packaged neatly in a sleek little mod.. This mod is a throat hit, vapor producing monster!.. The OMG comes with everything you need to get going, and best of all it is backed by the best customer service in the industry.. The OMG is packaged with the following.
. .

.. 1 OMG Mod body
.. 2 Tenergy RCR123A 3.0v LiFePO4 Rechargeable Batteries (750 mah)
.. 1 Tenergy Battery Charger with Wall Cord and Car Cord
.. 1 6ml Dual Coil tank (510 style) with 1.5 ohm dual coil carto
.. 1 510 to 808 adapter (to adapt for V4L Wow and Premium Cartomizers)
.. 1 30ml Bottle of juice (Premium or Wow)

This unit is threaded for 510 style cartomizers, however, with the
included 510 to 808 adapter, you can use any of our current lines of
cartomizers. The unit features an on/off function for safety, press the button 5 times to turn the unit off, press it 5 times again to turn it on. The batteries are LiFePO4, which is a safer chemistry to use in ecig mods.

is this safe to use? What things should I not do?

If you haven't already, please read this: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...oding-mods-current-situation.html#post5146201

Make sure your mod has vent holes.

Make sure your charger is not overcharging the batteries. Use a DMM to check them.

Don't load unmatched batteries in the PV. That means brands, types, capacities, and voltages.

Don't charge LiFePo batteries on a charger not specifically designed for LiFePo chemistry.

Remember that LiFePo is a "safer" chemistry battery. It doesn't mean they are completely safe. I don't think there is an absolutely safe lithium battery yet.

Those are just some general safety rules to follow for all mods and their batteries.

Thanks so much for the tips! How do I find the C rating of these batteries?

Here is a link to Rolygate's post on how to determine the C rating of a battery.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ask-veterans/131085-ecigs-using-cr123-batt.html

Also, please click on the link in his post and read the warning about using Tenergy RCR123 LiFePo batts in a PV.

The maximum discharge rate for Tenergy rcr123 is less than 550 mah, so that equates to less than 1c by my math. I think you need at least 4c to be on the safer side.

You can get the AW LiFePo batts and the charger here:

Electronic Cigarettes and AW batteries by Super T

The charger would be the Ultra Fire WF-188. It can charge LiFePo's and LiOn Batts. Has a selectable switch.

Also, both are available here: RTDVAPOR.com

Pricing and shipping are reasonable at both sites.

BTW, you can use that Tenergy charger that you have with the AW LiFePo batts as long as it says it is for LiFePo batts. Voltage output should not be 4.2 volts, but rather around 3.6.

It should say the output on the charger somewhere.

Is it safe to use the aw batteries in the tenergy charger, or do I really need to buy a new charger too? (I'm guessing yes since the AW batteries are 3.2 and the Tenergy say theyre 3.0?)

Yes, that should not be a problem as long as the Tenergy charger has an output voltage of 3.5/3.6 volts. Look on the data plate and see what it says. 4.2 volts is no-go.

I guess what I mean is, if you had the correct charger for the Tenergy batts, then it will charge the AW batts just fine.
