I have had my janty regular tawa 510 atty for a few weeks now.

My 1st dripping experience and has turned me way on to direct dripping!

Today I boiled it for the 2nd time since i've had it. 1st time was to wash out some essentail oil I used. It was vaping fine last night but I burnt some plastic on the atty, as I don't have a drip tip yet so was using the black cart moutpiece you get with empty carts and I was getting a plastic taste and coughing and looked at the cart moutpiece and found the bottom had burned where it come in contact around the atty!!!!

So I boiled the atty for a minute in evian and let it dry for 8 hours and then did light dry burn. First 6 drops of juice afterwards (only 2 each time) it would only produce hot, tinny tasting vape and not the voluminous clouds i am used to from it. Towards the end of the last set of 2 drops the flavor went back to normal with the liquid i use but the vape was hot. Let it rest and cool for 30 mins and dropped in 2 more drops just now and the taste is back and the clouds are there again, but boy oh boy is the vapor harsh on the old throat.... Also the metalic taste used to only come after a good 6 - 10 puffs but now it returns after only 4 puffs...

When I first started out attys lasted me about 2 weeks. One day I found a deal for 5$ attys if you buy 25 or more, I split with a friend and Im still on the first one I opened, this was a few months ago. I do dry burns a couple times a week to get rid of the build up and have not noticed any reduced performance.I guess there are very big differences in quality availlable. Maybe you have cheap ones? Maybe the taste your getting is the build up?

I tried drip tips but went back to empty carts. I also notice some melting on the edges but its not getting on the atty. Do you remove the bridge? The dry burn is much more effective with the wick and bridge removed.

The way I clean it is simply to rinse out the atty and blow water through it, Then place it back on the batt and "whip" it to get any remaining water out, then burn untill there is no more smoke/vapor coming out, drip 13 drops and vape like normal.

Well hopefully when I get my new attys for dripping I will not be using essential oils (too scary for me, made me feel high) in my juices and will get a drip tip, so no burning plastic. So the old blow out of old juice should be enough and the attys will last longer, as when i was using just normal juices with no eo added, they were great. Designated atty for each juice and i see no real need for intensive cleanign such as boiling etc...

Nothing works like dripping for beating a cigarette craving for me!

That's what happens when there is still water in the atty coil. You need to repeat the process. only, this time, instead of letting it six for 8 hours (Like you would a cartomizer) after you are done boiling it, let it cool enough and put the thread peice inbetween your lips and blow out all the liquid upside down onto a papertowel. Keep doing this until there is no more water coming out NONE.

after that THEN dry burn your atomizer until you see the red coils. you'll be fine, it's not the plastic, it's cause it's still wet inside and all your getting basically is brazil humidity. I know, trust me 8) lil amounts of vaper and lots of warm humidity.

It could be the burnt plastic, it could be the boiling with Evian. Bottled water still has minerals in it, unlike distilled water. I don't use water to clean my attys. I soak them in 91% Isopropyl Alcohol for 15 minutes and let them dry overnight. The IA evaporates completely and doesn't leave any residue.

Hey sorry for this but doesn't Isopropyl Alcohol have bitters and other chemicals to make it undrinkable?

Or it might just be NYC. All the IA I tried using left a weird aftertaste.

The bottles themselves say not meant for drinking. I don't see how any of the bitters/chemicals in the IA would just evaporate.

I switched to using Everclear to cleaning atties and would love to save money on cleaning atties.

Thanks

Yes, it contains additives, usually methanol, to render the alcohol poisonous. Methonal will evaporate off, but other chemicals are also used, such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, and denatonium. Some of these may leave residues.

I agree with you, pga (I use Everclear) is preferable. Or, failing that, a high-proof vodka or white rum, such as the white 151.
