My wife just came down with strep throat again. This happens quite regularly with her, but since I've been vaping, I haven't gotten it. Is it possible that the PG from the ecigs killing off the bacteria before I get sick?

In fact, I haven't gotten really sick since I've started vaping 21 months ago. I got a cold for a day, but it was very mild. It used to be that when I got a cold, the world pretty much ended for a week and I did nothing but whine and lay in bed.

Have I just been incredibly lucky? Or is there a correlation between vaping and reduced lung/throat sickies?

According to the following study, this could very well be true: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2135415/pdf/387.pdf

Since the amount and manner of propylene glycol vapor used in e-cigarettes was not specifically considered in this study, we can't be certain that there is enough to substantially reduce your chances of infection, but it is a very reasonable hypothesis that is worthy, IMHO, of further research.

Everyone should check out this link, Glycerin has been known since the 30s and perhaps beyond that it helps kill off infections. It was used in the past as tooth paste and is highly recommended for people with periodontal disease. I have noticed that since I have stopped smoking and begun vamping that my gums have improved dramatically, and my mouth has been much cleaner. I believe this is due to the elimination of bacteria accumulation in the mouth. Therefore with this analogy, I can assume that inhaling Glycerin can be beneficial for upper reportorial infections, and could very well help to prevent or cure strep throat, pneumonia, and bronchitis. I am not a doctor, but this sounds like very important information that should be researched.

I just got through what has become my annual winter cold, except that this is my first time as a vaper, not a smoker. For the last five years my cold would end up as bronchitis, then an inflamed lung. Coughing for a few weeks followed by steroids and I'd finally be back to normal.

This year, after the sore throat, sneezing and fever for a couple days, it just ended. All I did was switch to a milder liquid that was easy on my throat while it was sore. No chest congestion whatsoever. Vaping is a winner for me!
