There is more toxins in the air that in e liquid

I re-read the question from the OP, and that is not what he asked.

The OP is a non-smoker, and wanted to know if vaping was safe.

nyiddle answered the question.......honestly and completely

The OP did not ask if breathing air was safe. He is a non smoker, already breathing air (whether safe or not) and is asking about *adding* eliquid/vaping to his non-smoker lungs.

It's a simple question that deserves an honest answer. If you asked your doctor if "formula" was safe for your newborn, how would you feel if the doctor answered you with "well fumes from cars aren't safe. Living isn't safe, the air your newborn breathes isn't safe."

quite frankly, if somebody answered me that way, I would run for the hills.

To the OP: We don't know for sure if introducing eliquid into your lungs, as a non-smoker, is 100% or even 90% safe.

We do know that vaping is safer than smoking (because there isn't too much you can do that is worse than smoking) and vaping is considered *harm reduction* for smokers, not harm-free.

There are still a number of questions to be answered, and studies to be made, esp. about certain flavorings which contain diketones, and which show some ability to cause a decline in lung function.

Dr. Farsalinos: "Most commonly, diacetyl exposure causes a decline in lung function which can be detected by a reduction in FEV1. This is much more common that development of bronchiolitis obliterans. However, this can be easily misdiagnosed as COPD. Therefore, we absolutely disagree with the conclusions by Pierce et al."

Dunno if you realized, @Racehorse, but you were quoting OP in your post (OP has been quite prolific on this thread without directly responding to any posts..)

As i said i have 0mg nic, so there is no real harm going into my body! All pharmacitical grade ingredients

It doesn't matter if it's 0mg nic. In fact, the nicotine is probably one of the least questionable ingredients in e-liquid. And "pharmaceutical" really means nothing at this point in the game. Just because something is "USP Food-Grade FDA approved safe" doesn't mean it's safe for inhalation, because its never been tested in those circumstances.

Facts that remain:

1. VG/PG, when burned (not vaporized), produces harmful -aldehydes, which are carcinogenic. Ideally you're not burning your e-liquid, but it does happen. Wicking material, also, when burned can produce harmful toxins.

2. Diketones are present in e-liquids, and we don't know the full extent of how bad they are for you, but we do know that they're not good. It's impossible to quantify at this point what damage they might be doing.

3. Not vaping is safer than vaping. Period. Case closed.

Organic compound is not a synonym to safe compound. Take apricot stones with cyanide. Potato turned green. Cassava.

Another thing to consider is that lungs were not developed to digest food additives.

Yep and nicotine is organic but deadly in high doses.
Organic does not mean good for ya.

And a big yepper on the lungs not designed to digest food additives.

Nothing is 100% risk free, its not any worse that walking out to the street and inhaling all the exhaust fumes etc

You can't compare the two.

Walking outside is not an option, you will inhale those fumes, and from what we can tell they don't really impede lifespan too much unless you're severely over-exposed.

Vaping is an option. You can go your whole life without ever inhaling PG/VG/nic/flavoring. Does it impede lifespan? We don't know.

The OP started a new thread.
vaping instead of smoking | E-Cigarette Forum

"my friends smoke, like all of them... So i got a cheap ego and vape 0mg nic but a very cold arctic blast menthol juice, some reason its making it better for me to breathe... Not complaining"

Define ' safe ' - then your personal levels of ' safe ' or risk with any given activity.
Then ' safe ' or ' safer ' compared to what.

IMO, vaping is safer than smoking.
Purposely concentrating and inhaling foreign substances of any kind comes with risks, it is not as safe or safer than breathing the air we all share.

That is a true statement.

Also, one can have a lifespan that is not impeded, yet have lung function that is impeded. Many people continue to live a long life with *impeded* body organs --- however, their comfort and daily skills of living may be affected. (people living with COPD, for instance, or liver disease, etc.).

vaping is safer than smoking

and which is why vaping is called "harm reduction" for smokers.

I haven't read any studies on vaping being "harm reduction" for non smokers.

Certainly, if one is about to take up smoking, vaping would certainly be a better choice, if one were interested in harm reduction.

The OP did not say why they started vaping (did they?) So we don't know for sure if they were considering smoking and decided to vape instead. If that were the case I would tell them to vape for sure.

Yes. It appears that OP is asking questions, then answering them himself.

My response was targetted to the question itself......regardless of who is doing the asking (or answering). ;)

I do feel that you answered the questions honestly and squarely, based on what we "do know", as well as what we don't know, and was very satisfied with your answers and comments.

This may be your opinion, but there is no "of course" about it -- no one has yet shown that there is ANY hazard in vaping, when one is not BBQing one's wick. In fact it may even be beneficial, thanks to PG's antimicrobial effect, nicotine's beneficial effects on the brain and the intestines.

Don't go spreading that "vaping is unhealthy of course" because that is simply not true.

It's all opinion at this point. But to think inhaling vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol into your lungs is having no effect is a bit naive.

I'm sure it does "have an effect" -- but "harmful of course"? Nope. It did nudge my borderline dehydration a bit further into the red... which prompted me to eliminate 80% of the caffeine I was accustomed to imbibing, and also to add coconut water/pineapple juice to my daily regimen -- so it actually had a BENEFICIAL effect! (quite aside from the fact that it also relieves me of the need to SMOKE -- HUGE WIN!)
