I don't know about the sore lungs, but when I tried to stop using nicotine I got very depressed, cranky, tired, didn't want to do anything, either. I didn't realize it at first, but those are some of the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. Most people say nicotine isn't addictive (it's the rest of the ingredients in cigarettes), but for myself, I think it is, and I know of a few other people who have the same problem. I had no trouble quitting cigarettes when I started vaping, and I smoked 2 packs a day for over 40 years, but I can't seem to shake my need for nicotine. Since nicotine by itself isn't a big deal, I've gone back to using it at a low level, but enough so that my mood has improved and I feel normal again.

Hope you feel better soon! :)
Thank you for you information!
Hope I'll feel better soon.
I think I will use 6mg nicotine again and decrease to 3mg and 0mg.
6mg to 0mg maybe too hard for me...

I agree with everything above. I do notice when my coil gets gunked up, I can feel it in my chest the next morning. Are you changing your coils or wicking on a regular basis?
I change wicking every 2 or 3 day and clean my coil when it's become gunk...
But maybe this time I use too much sucralose and it's burn. I think so...

For some people, if you smoke for a long time and you try too fast to get off of nicotine you can get a tight chest (from withdrawal symptoms) and other weird symptoms. I would still examine the juice you are vaping to be sure it's OK.
Thank you!
I think I will use nicotine again and decrease it's slower.
Maybe 6mg to 0mg is to hard for me...

My lungs & throat always hurt when I quit smoking, or even when I just changed to a different brand of tobacco. I always thought it was pretty weird so I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

But yeah, make sure it isn't caused by something else. Nickel in the air path can cause this if you're sensitive to it, too hot a vape can also cause it, maybe even the liquid you're using.

If it doesn't go away after a month or two it can't hurt to check with your doctor to see if there isn't something else going on.
Thank you!
But my coil is Kanthal, not Nickel!

If you have just recently quit smoking there are a lot of symptoms that occur while your body is trying to heal itself. That includes tiredness, anxiety (lack of nicotine), and even sore throat and coughing. I had a sore throat for a month. I smoked for 38 years so I know my body was going into "shock" from lack of all those nasty chemicals. You say you are on 0 nic now and having these symptons of worry, etc., but you were ok on 6mg nic. You are going through withdrawal. You should probably stay on some nicotine for a while and slowly reduce it.
Today, I use Nicotine again and I feel better! Lung still sore but it's better...
Maybe I'll decrease it slower
Thank you!

because your lungs have been coated with tar, and you quit smoking, the tar comes off, and your body might feel "weird" for some time

but then again, go consult a doctor and tell him/her about quitting smoking and vaping as well

:vapor:
Jeez!
I try to use Nicotine again and I feel better...
Maybe the reason is just Nicotine

+1 to everyone here:

It takes a while to heal up after being a heavy smoker for years. It may be no more that that. I coughed for the first month, myself. My lungs were getting re moisturized after decades of hot, dry smoke, and I coughed up a lot of nasty dark stuff.

Try changing up your juices. Different flavor, different PG/VG ratios, different manufacturer. consider DIY to be certain of your ingredients.

Don't be in a hurry to quit nicotine. This can send you back to smoking.

If none of this works, see your doctor.

Good luck, welcome to the board.
I feel better for today when I vape with Nicotine again.
That's crazy :(

Well, since it started when you stopped using nicotine perhaps you could try to add a little nicotine again for a few days just to see if that makes the problem go away? It might just be withdrawal.

Or you could just simply have a cold perhaps.

That is great to hear, I'm glad you were able to figure out what caused your problems.

Just take it down slowly then. Try to reduce the nicotine dosage by 2mg every two weeks until you reach zero if you still want to quit using nicotine altogether, it should go a lot smoother that way.

Welcome and enjoy your stay. Congratulations on joining the ranks of former smokers.

If you are having discomfort after being a smoker I cannot stress it enough that you should seek a Professional Medical Opinion on your symptoms and not rely on the Internet or your own Diagnosis. You could be wasting time and cause yourself serious harm by avoiding medical help. Hopefully it is withdrawals and nothing to be concerned with........................ Good Luck

Cut back your PG. 20PG/80VG I think that will help. with tiredness and sore lungs. (because that was what higher PG did to me when I started vaping).

Also, add back some nicotine and reduce it VERY slowly so that you can actuallly quit smoking :)

Do this over a period of months, not weeks or days.

and yes, have a checkup by doctor.

Welcome to ecf! You've been given great advice, here, and I'm glad it's helping. Try to remember that you didn't go from zero cigs a day to a pack a day in one or two days. It took a little while. Same thing with reducing nicotine: it takes awhile for your body to adjust. Nicotine is a stimulant, and without it, you will be tired, grouchy, and just feel badly. Slow and steady, and you'll get there.

As far as your lungs hurting, that's probably not related to reducing nicotine. Your lungs are damaged from smoking and will take time to heal. Finding the right mix of PG/VG should help, as will drinking a lot of water. If you still hurt after a few weeks, see a doctor. Please. Better to be safe!
