I'm constantly over my sink with the hot water going and a tooth brush cleaning my tip[emoji13]

I clean my tip a few times a day, since my tip is constantly being put in warm dark places. But I usually clean just the tip and not the shaft, because the shaft is too long and it's too much work.

I have never seen anything like that on mine, but if I ever feel the SLIGHTEST "greasiness" like ejuice, I wipe it immediately, inside and out; I don't want ejuice in my mouth unless it's in vapor form! So maybe that keeps them clear of anything like that "crust." Ewww. And mostly I use acrylic tips, sometimes glass which requires even more frequent wiping because I can *see* all that condensate building up inside. The one metal I use pretty much daily, a "gun metal" chromed stainless, I do notice that sometimes it doesn't feel quite as smooth as it should, so I wipe it carefully with a wet papertowel, then with a dry one. It fixes it.

I noticed many years ago, however, that my "smoking" technique was very different from most peoples'. I have very thin lips, so maybe that's why, but my cigarette, and now my driptips, do not ever go inside my lips; I hold them to the outside of my lips, always. My filtertips were NEVER wet, and if I happened to slobber on one, I put it out immediately because that's just gross. I feel much the same about my driptips, but thankfully, they can be wiped and dried off.

I smoked cigarettes the same way but now with vaping i have my lips around the driptip so the end is just past my lips and thats why i clean my tip usually two/three times a day, If i start to see any build up i clean it.

I used to have that problem. There are lots of remedies. The most effective remedy should be taken care of at birth. Not a fun thing to go through later on in life when permanent memory storage is in effect.

As far as drip tips go? quick rinse everyday.

Just riffing off the post title here. If the situation is more complex I apologize for my intrusion.

Never have this happen to me. The only time my tanks get cleaned is when I'm changing out my rayon wicks which is every 2-3 weeks or the off chance I drop my mod and the drip tip lands in something nasty, the tip comes off and gets a rinse.
If you have buildup of crud on it then yeah, clean it off. If you have a weak immune system then clean it more.
I've been using 3 different EHPro Kayfuns for the last 10 months or so with the stock drip tips. When I do clean them it's just a rinse in warm/hot water then put the stopper in the sink and put all the pieces in the water and I remove the old wicks, a quick swish around in the water and then drain the water and dry everything off with a paper towel.

Well, I can sum it up in just a few words...
Stop worrying about it.
:)

I agree DC2. I think a lot of people don't know much about microbes and human existence. There is an interesting TEDx lecture given on the subject of 'Are We Too Clean?' by Claire M. Fraser. Here's what is said about her:

"Claire M. Fraser, PhD, is a world-renowned scientist who launched a new field of study – microbial genomics and, through her ground-breaking research and pioneering leadership in this field, has fundamentally changed our understanding of the diversity and evolution of microbial life on Earth."

A couple of highlights for me:

A little after 2:00 in the video; there are about 10 times the number of microbial cells in the human body than human cells. They weigh in at between 3-5 pounds and would almost fill a gallon jug. Without them we would die.

A bit after 14:50; Talk about the 'ick' factor, she talks about fecal transplant to restore human GI microbes that were decimated from antibiotic use.

Here's the video:

I'm not worried about microbes on my drip tip even if I never clean it. A dirty drip tip is 'cleaner' than my mouth is 99% of the time.

Now, I'm not saying it's a good idea to go out and play in animal droppings or to eat uncooked chicken, but IMO our society is too clean today and I feel no desire to join in. It's unhealthy :)
