I don't mean being interesting in actually vaping, but being interested in exploring it, thinking & writing about it, and buying new stuff.

I discovered vaping around last November (haven't smoked in over 4 years, using snus), joined these forums, and got to 300 posts pretty quickly. Every time I earned a couple of extra dollars I was getting another battery, tank, carto or clearo, and I enjoyed perusing the various vendors' websites in my free time, watching video tutorials about rolling mesh, whatever...

... But my enthusiasm eventually waned. Now I just want to have a decent vape and not really think about it. On the other hand, because of the volatility of the political situation, I think it socially responsible to maintain a presence in the community (strength in numbers and all of that), but these days I pretty much fire-up my Provari & Cobra, or fill an Evod, T2 or Protank on a Spinner or Twist for the road, and go about my business pursuing other interests, thinking about other things, so I have very little to say.

Is this a common progression? I used to worry about missing The Next Big Thing, but now not so much since I have too many accessories already, can't keep it organized, and what I do use on a daily basis works well.

There might be a reason to stay around here to help new people, but whenever a new person has a question there are so many people who have more expertise than I do, it doesn't seem necessary... But I will continue to be a supporting member for as long as this place exists, whether I have anything to say or not.

We are all different :D
Me? I like the social aspect of ECF. Can ya tell?
It's also a support system for me. I have not gotten into all the gadget stuff. I'm still using the Nova system that I pretty much started with. Nothing else. I got my first Provari for Christmas last year and my setup today is still the Provari and Nova.

I'm very involved with the activism side, not the tech side of vaping. My only other interest outside of ECF is being in a band. These two things keep me very busy. ;). I do like traveling too.

Now that I have a decent APV and backups I don't cruise the websites looking for the sale on whatever device anymore. Probably not going to get into collecting mods and mechs either. Could buy a mech some-day but not to-day.

I spend more time reading user threads about various toppers and the advantages or disadvantages that users get from them. Still looking for the best for me.

When I first started vaping, I was obsessed. How could I have missed this? I spent hours watching YT videos, cruising websites, buying stuff, etc. I wanted to DIY, rebuild coils, etc. Now, with a month cig-free behind me, I've got all that out of the way (sort of) and find myself just vaping because I like the idea of replacing my cig habit. Yes, it was intense the first few weeks, but I'm now settled into more of a routine...until the NBT comes along, anyway!

I look forward to the day when I can go into "maintenance mode" and stop worrying about what hardware/juice I should get next. I'm not quite there yet but I'm getting closer. Vaping is cool as a hobby in and of itself but I have plenty of other interests already.

Playing in a good band brings a satisfaction and sense of purpose that's hard to describe to someone who's never experienced it. I'm in two bands that are both inactive at the moment and the boredom/ennui is killing me. I miss playing gigs and I need that fix, ya know?

I started the vaping cruise looking for a replacement for my wife. I was an ex-smoker, stopped smoking with the use of "smoke-away" and had my last cigarette and nicotine on 12-19-2012. But I knew my wife couldn't/wouldn't quite but I couldn't be around it anymore. So I started the quest, the mythical search for that hidden unicorn that would satisfy her craving and need. Along came the discovery of vaping, e-cig tank system.

From there I found what would work best for beginners with an ease of use. I found a local shop here in Tulsa and I went in and started talking with them. I was pretty sure of what I felt would work and it has. She says she has been vaping for 5 months but she has really been vaping for 10 months. She had a rough patch where she went back to analogs and vaped but it was due to no enough nicotine in the juice. Now she is back to vaping only with 24mg nic juice. I found the VV/VW mod that delivers the hit she needs so we are happy at the moment.

I keep my eye on new products just in-case. I like to see the trends, the innovation that goes into this. Yes I stand behind vaping with a passion, I wish that we could get our supposed elected officials to understand the power that vaping brings to the smoking community. The health benefits, the long term advantages verse analogs. If I could I would go down to my state legislature and get each and every one of the elected officials to talk to vapers and find out the truth instead of the line of b.s. they are fed by big tobacco.

Ettan Los for the win!

I have several tins of Ettan Lös in the freezer. I still like and use snus, as it's totally discreet and hassle free. No charging batteries, no worrying about compatible accessories, no cleaning and maintenance...and it's real, whole tobacco. If I hadn't discovered vaping, I would've been fine with snus only, but now that I've experienced vaping I have no desire to go back.

It's not so much big tobacco that is feeding the BS, it's the big pharma and the big disease groups.

If vaping actually works and gets people healthy, who runs out of funding?

If vaping works and people don't buy the patches and gum, who loses money?

People get healthy and get off meds, who loses money?

If those groups don't exist, who no longer contributes to the political campaigns?

If cigarettes no longer get purchased with their outrageous taxes, how do those stadiums get built?

Just some questions to ponder......

If you're happy with your set-up why change it? The only reason to keep an eye out for the next new thing is if you want it to be a hobby rather than just a daily routine.

I guess this sums it up. I'm not really into the hobby aspect. Just want to vape in the same way I drink orange juice or something. I like OJ and drink it, but don't trip on the phenomena.

Good times. I used nasal snuff as well. I just stopped using it when I ran out of my buysnus order. If I ever get the craving I have a couple stores around me that sell general of course heh.

I think it has become a bit of a hobby for me at the moment. Maybe just because i havent been doing it that long and cant take part in other physical hobbies at the moment because of back problems. The social aspect of forums is good, along with the helpful tips :)

I was like a pinball at the hands of a wizard buying this and that and trying this and that and posting like a madman until I finally settled into My ProVaris and Carto's. I was missing in action here for a while until I decided to get into DIY which to me is the "Final Frontier" of this vaping hobby. Now Im back asking questions about DIY and reading posts like this.

Ive almost quit helping out other members with the normal noob equiptment because there are so many of you that enjoy doing it. I think it is the progression of things. I dont get fired about with new stuff anymore. I dont visit Vapor Joes much anymore.

I have made a few friends (sorta here on the forums and will get in amd ask questions/opinions from time to time.

Will it wane ? I really dont know right now.

Well this "passing phase" has now lasted for 2.5 years. I've known the vape I want for a long time now. So my quest hasn't been for a better vape, but instead for better or more efficient ways to get the same result.

Besides reading Facebook posts gets boring after a while

BTW, I have now 'not spent' $10,000.00 on cigarettes, pipes, and cigars!
no wonder the governor is ......

I'm approaching the three year mark. I've hoped to get to the maintenance phase, but there is still a little of the chasing the dragon going on. This year it looks like expenses will be on par with what I was spending smoking...I was doing stuff your own, so expenses were in the range of $65/mo. Additionally, I'll have a plentiful stock of consumables to start the new year.

I think the hobby aspect will remain to a certain extent. For one, I think there is still plenty of room for hardware evolution. By that I don't mean simply a better power source, but perhaps new atomizer systems that get away from the traditional wick 'n wire.

I do like to keep an eye on the regulatory/political developments. Across the world, it seems there are a variety of approaches being eyed. Interesting is Australia with the possibility of replacing cigarettes with ecigarettes.

The threads on 'How bad regulation is going to be' get a bit tiresome when it's not clear that anyone has good information with which to make an informed call. Still, suppliers/producers seem to be moving forward. New nicotine base vendors continue to appear.

I'm a little bit leery of the traditional tobacco companies and the $6 to $10 disposables along with the disposable cartomizers. People new to vaping may think that's just the way it is and perhaps comparable to smoking costs, so it may not seem all that bad. The tobacco industry certain has the funds to be in the public's face with their products. While our usual ecigarette vendors can certainly undercut those prices by a great margin, will they gain the future possible motherload of new vapers?

One other aspect of vaping that will continue to have some of my attention is the Whole Tobacco Alkaloid or similar realm. While I might benefit from use of such, the current costs are prohibitive for me. If industrial-scale (well...greater than current) production can bring costs down considerably, that may be helpful to many of us. Then again, I wonder where the line is crossed in regards to medical concerns. Will there be plentiful and inexpensive WTA concentrate in the future?

Otherwise, I'm comfortable as I gingerly ease off the accelerator and move towards cruising speed. Cost-wise, breakeven may come in the next year.

Ansah - As far as your waning interest, I suspect that is more the norm for most rather than for those who stick around ECF and remain active.
