I've seen this, I think- the center post that nut screws onto is nickel plated brass, and I've read somewhere on here that some of them got a bit too much nickel plate in the center post threads,
causing what you're experiencing/seeing. To fix it, people just tightened the nut as much as they could, loosened a little bit, repeat. back and forth for awhile until the steel nut cuts through the softer excess nickel plate. Just use something to protect the mitts and go slow, or even use cushioned pliers of some sort if necessary, though I hate to even use the words "pliers" and GG in the same sentence...One of my Ody center pins was like this, and doing this got it on just fine after about 15 minutes. Now it goes on perfectly.
If it is damaged though, I'm sure COV could help you out!

you can still use your penelope elga. With the NR wire, please make more than one turn around the center pole before you screw the nut that holds the wire. That way the nut will hold the wire:)
This is just terrible :s Ik for a fact this is a perfect device.. but this little problem may very well keep me from experiencing it.

Thank you for your response imeo, I have fixed that nut thing and it really wasn't a problem at all, just needed to be screwed down a little tighter one time with pliers, now its working like a charm, and I got it up a running :vapor: I'm very excited as I just got it fire up and produce vapor. I've heard that there is something you must do to the wire/ceramic before you can get really good taste though, could anyone clear this up for me?

One thing you can do for the ceramic to make it taste better in the event that you are getting a funny or soapy taste from it is to take some wire and run a loop through the ceramic and then use a pair of pliers to hold the wire while letting the ceramic get hot over a gas stove burner or other source of blue flame. Reason it has to be blue flame is that blue flame is cleaner and will not char the ceramic but it will heat it to the point that it will release any residual tastes that are in it.

Or you can do what I did and just vape a few tanks of really flavorful juice through it and it will go away on it's own :D

Hope this helps

One more question, after just 2 or 3 initial fire ups, the coils and the wick turned black, is this normal?

Mine does that with some juices. A lot of times that really depends on how dark your juice is. The coils themselves will naturally turn black, but if you are using a more clear liquid it takes longer to make the wick turn dark. But eventually they all turn a cruddy looking black color. When it starts effecting the taste I just vape the tank dry and then take it off and rinse it with hot water and dry burn all the crud build up into ash and then blow it out and put it back together and refill it.

With some juices I'll say oh yeah. Seems its the thicker pure VG that causes it to go so fast.
And to add, all of our ceramics, whether for Penelope or iatty, all get torched a couple of times under blue flame. And I even give them a vodka bath. After the bath, one more torch. Never a soap taste.
All wick and all R wire gets a burn before assembly. No metallic or soapy taste ever to start.
