I'm thinking of upgrading to the Istick 100w (currently using an Istick 30w with a Horizontech Arctic tank, 0.5 ohm coils) but not entirely sure. Anyone out there have one? What are your thoughts, any problems? I'm looking for better vapor production, I usually run at the max of 30w. I'm not too thrilled about removable batteries, but at least they can be charged in the device. Is there any mods available 75w+ with integrated batteries, at or near the price point of the Istick + batteries? Any advice is appreciated!

I actually prefer removeable batteries.

I get to choose exactly what battery to use, not what a manufacturer chooses. I prefer IMR (safe chemistry) batteries; LiPo batteries (not safe chemistry) are what are used in the iStick.

The best way to charge batteries is via a dedicated box battery charger, not with USB.

Your preferences may differ from mine.

Removable batteries are better in my opinion. I can charge them on a good charger and not risk charging via the USB. I can pick what batteries I want instead of what devices put into. I can have a couple sets of batteries so I'm not stuck sitting around with my mod plugged in. I would never charge 18650s in a box even if they said it was capable of it.

However, I have no experience with this. Go read reviews for it to see if it's for you.

Definitely want 75w+, kind of afraid to go with the Istick 50w anyway, given it's track record. Is my avoidance of removable 18650 batteries irrational? I've just seen a lot of horror stories about batteries venting or exploding, and don't want to be the subject of the next one. I like the simplicity of my 30w- screw on tank, push button, inhale, ahhh. Removable batteries just seems over complicated if that even makes sense. What do I need to know about removing and charging them, if I decide to go that route? Which batteries are best? Which charger is best?

Sony VTC4's are great batteries. I use them in everything. They are a lil bit short on the mAh compared to others, but they have the best balance of CDR and mAh. You can pick them up for $6 or $7 a piece and a decent charger is about $25ish. It's easier to simply swap out a battery when it goes flat and charge them in the evenings. Plus when the battery finally dies, you still have a working mod. When an iStink battery dies, the mod is useless. Baditude up there has some great blogs about batteries as does Mooch. Check them out and see if you think removable batteries are a better way to go.

I've had my istick 100 for a little over a week, and so far I'm very satisfied. Running 25r's in it, and the thing is (price per watt) one heck of a decent deal! Only complaint is I ordered two of them, and one had something shaking around inside of it, I'm guessing the charging board since everything else worked fine and I didn't try the charging. It's on its way back to the vender now, so looking forward to having another one next week! A minor complaint is there's no battery % number for battery life, just the bar. Got used to the % number on my sig 150's...

From what I understand, when you charge 2 batteries in the same mod, you run all the current through one battery into the other one. It wears out the 1st battery and causes it to fail, plus the 2nd battery often times doesn't take a full charge and the 1st can be over charged and vent because it reads the combined voltage of both batteries, rather than the voltage of the individual cells.

So, being new to removable batteries, what would I need to do- just take them out when it stops working, charge them up and pop them back in? Tell me everything I need to know, the only removable batteries I've ever dealt with (and not in vaping) are AA or AAA, C, D, or 9v LOL. I don't think these are quite the same.... I went from Ego stick batteries to the Istick 30... and that's where I am today. I'm pretty much between the 100w Istick or Sigelei 150w, but leaning toward the Istick because of cost- between the box itself, batteries and a charger, it's going to add up quick. I'm planning on gifting my Dad my 30w and Subtank Nano in hopes it will get him off the stinkies, already gave him an Ego but that didn't help at all. Also going to tell him at the same time that I've been vaping for 6 months- my parents never knew I ever smoked, planning on keeping it that way. Will see how that goes, my biggest hope is that I can get my Dad off his 40 or so a day habit.

Definitely grab two sets of batteries, swap them when there's about a third of the battery bar left and check the voltage when you put them on the charger. You really don't want to run them down past 3.5 volts, I like to recharge at 3.6 and that's at about 1/3 battery life left. On my sig 150's it's at 40%.

I like the 25r's, the 30q's have been good as well. If you plan on using all 100 watts it's worth running vtc4's.

And get a GOOD charger. It should have an LED screen on it, not just a light that turns red & green.

Read the blogs these 2 guys have on ECF. You can find them with the search bar at the top of the screen. Tey will answer all your questions.
