Hi All,

I was hoping for some advice from a more experienced vaper on what my best choice of battery will be for an Istick 100w.

I have just purchased an Istick 100w from eleaf which came with 2 Sony 1850 VT4's, I also currently own an Istick 50w with a Lemo2 tank and my coils are 0.5-0.6 ohms.
I get about 2 days of life out of my Istick 50w vaping at 15w and was expecting to double that time with the 100w

Sadly I am only getting about 8 hrs from the Istick 100w with the Sony VT4's and eleaf has just confirmed that is about right for those batteries.
So my question is what are the best batteries i should use for longevity that are also safe to use, as I said earlier the max watts I vape at is 15w, Eleaf said the battery has to be a 25-30 amps inr battery.

Thanks for any help on this, I don't get into the technical side of vaping much and im not sure what is safe to use, also a reputable seller would be great too.

If you are only using 15w you will be fine, if you were vaping towards 80-100w you would want something with a higher CDR. The LGs have a 3000 mAh vs the VTC4s 2000 mAh so you should see a good bit more battery life out of them if you stay at low wattage. The samsung 25r are a good battery too just a little bit more mAh than a VTC4.

How long do you get from the Samsung 25r's Rapture, as I say im only getting 8 hrs at best when vaping at 15w, how long do you think I would get with the Samsungs?

That is a difficult question to answer. Especially considering that I'm unfamiliar with the batteries that you're using. I usually run something between a .2 or .3 coil. I'm usually vaping somewhere between 50 and 60 watts. I tend to vape quite a bit and the batteries will usually last me all day. At 15 Watts, I can only assume that your experience is going to be much better. I tried to do quite a bit of research before settling on a particular battery. Usually, the same batteries kept popping up over and over again in the discussions. Samsung 25r ang the Sony VTC4 seemed the best way to go. At the time though, Sony wasn't producing the VTC4 and I was looking for something that I would be able to buy for a while. Since those batteries are now in production again, I guess I could buy them. I really haven't seen any need though. I've been very happy with what I have.

End of line.

Why were you expecting to get double the vaping time with the 100w version?

Battery drain will depend primarily upon the mAh (capacity) and C rating (amp continuous discharge rate) of the battery and the resistance of the atomizer.

I would stick with the reputable "Main Brands" of battery manufacturers: AW, LG, Orbtronic, Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony. These companies actually make their own bare cells. Batteries don't all come out from the factory as created equal, so they are tested and put into tier one, tier two, and tier three bins. These manufacturers sell the tier one under their brand name, and sell the second/third tier batteries to vendors who re-wrap these cells with their own brand name (ie Efest). To appear to be competitive with the Main Brands, these companies often advertise over-rated specifications. As Mooch's independent bench tests prove, the companies who re-wrap 2nd/3rd bin batteries don't perform near as well as the Main Brands.

Since you typically vape less than 15 watts, a true 20 amp (CDR) battery should be sufficient for your mod. Picking a battery which has a true higher capacity (mah rating) should perform longer per charge than one with a lesser capacity, but there will be no guarantee that this will occur due to other circumstances.

Thank you Romano,
Eleaf said that the battery needs to have a Max. Continuous Discharging Current of 25-30, I notice the one you linked is 20, will that be fine?

You're going to be just fine with the HG2's. They are 20A continuous so a pair of them are good up to 100 watts. At 15 watts they will feel like they are taking a very relaxed walk in the park :)

Thanks guys, HG2 it is then.
Must admit though I am a tad disappointed with how long the Sony VT4's have lasted and even if the HG2 will double that time it will still only be 16 hrs. I own a Istick 50w and thought it had a single 18650 battery in it so was expecting double the life with the 100w, just found out that's not the case :)

Bob, I use HG2's in my iStick 100w and get close to 2 days with them. And I chain vape. I think you'll be really happy with them.

The Istick 50 has two built in Lipo batteries rated at 4400 mAh together. I don't know how 6000 mAh from two HG2's will compare, but the HG2's will I believe be the longest lasting 20A Li-ion batteries you can get for the mod. You should get in the neighborhood of 30% better run time with them compared to VTC4's.

If your VTC4's are old or have been stressed in some way they might be worn out. What charger do you have?

You have to remember also, the difference in the battery chemistries involved. Your iStick50w uses a LiPo pack of two cells, an 18650 like the VTC4 is an IMR hybrid. Eleaf took a lot of time and effort to tune the iStick50w to work with a certain LiPo pack to get the performance they needed, a high Mah lower CDR battery, the 100watt needs at its max output Higher CDR and to get that higher CDR with an 18650 IMR battery you sacrifice Mah and run capacity to get higher amps out of a battery.

I've got a Sigelei150watt and an IPV3 150watt, both of them I use Sony VTC4's and LG HB6's in them, at 12watts max I get a full day and 1/2 out of them with the HB6's, this is moderate use, if you are chuffing away on your mod like a pacifier all day and it never leaves your hand, you will not get any longer run time no matter what battery you use, if it is run time you want, you might lower your wattage and up your nic strength to balance it if you are chuffing like a locomotive all day, clearly lower nicotine is not working for you, that or up your wattage and vaporizing attachment to something more efficient to handle higher watts.
