I wondered if there is something more robust than the pico? I saw there was one from Pipeline with stainless steel components but it seems that it is not produced anymore.

At the moment I still have the Pico v1 b. I like the look. But the cap for the battery is jumping of sometimes. The thread might be worn out. Also overall it doesnt look good anymore.

I wonder if I should go for pico v2. What do you think pico 1 vs pico 2?

Also is there something out there that is also so nice and small but maybe has higher quality materials?

I never had the problem with the battery cap, which I've heard people complain about. I've had a couple where the screen faded which is also quite common. I have quite a few of them though and most are doing fine even after several years. Don't know about the v2.

I have a bunch of Geekvape Aegis Solo mods. Never had a problem with them. Seen videos where people drop them off balconies or run them over with trucks or sink them in a bucket of water overnight. I lost one in the yard in long grass and found it a couple of weeks later after several days of rain and it was fine. Being bulletproof is one of their selling points. They are bigger and heavier than Picos if that's a big deal for you. But being robust probably means being heavier.

There are other mods that are known for reliability and being hard to break but I don't recall the names. Maybe someone else will pop in with suggestions.

I guess if you stick with Picos you might have to deal with the occasional failure, might be worth it if you like them though. They are cheap and mostly reliable. Just be extra gentle with the cap.

Since we really have no guarantee that mods will go on being available my general advice would be to choose some you like and buy as many as you can afford.

hmmm.... I am looking for something small. But my guess is all the devices will wear out sooner or later. And anything with more premium materials will have also premium prices? Idk if it makes sense if I can buy two picos instead of one expensive mod....

Do you think mods get forbidden? Cannot imagine that somehow.
Anything with electronics is likely to die sooner or later, chips and screens and wire and so forth. Some mech mods could last for a really long time because they don't have any parts that are fragile. Some vapers keep a few mechs around for that reason. I picked up a decent collection of Pico's when they were going cheap, most of them are doing fine even after being used daily for years, and I have more still in the boxes. Couple with dimmed out screens, and one so faded I can't read it at all. They do have a solid metal case.

In the US there is a process going on that could well lead to the sale of mods being banned. Maybe they will still be available from China. Not a good gamble, best to get them now.

    The older Pico's have a TIN battery cap and a aluminum case. While I have one that seems to always get juice in the threads making it sometimes unreliable I rarely if ever take the battery caps off.

    The most current version has a USBC port on it and offers much faster charging because of it. However Eleaf won't ship to my State so getting a modern one is out of the cards for me.

    My 18560 Pico's I run @ <=20W and 21700 Pico's @ <=30W.

    IMHO great little inexpensive devices as long as you keep the battery cap threads clean.
