It ain't pretty, but I made an air flow control ring!

Yesterday I drilled the air hole on my RM2 to 5/64 and it was beautiful for what I vape mostly, strong menthols, but when I switched to a lighter fruity flavor I noticed some flavor loss. Necessity being the mother of invention and inspired by one I had seen on here, I decided to forage in the dirty basement to see what I had. I found one of these:

I cut off the bottom half with a hacksaw. Then after about a 1/2 hour of twisting, turning, wrenching, vice gripping and other tooling I had downstairs I came out with this:

I didn't have to drill a hole, I just used the screw hole that was already there.

Like I said it ain't pretty, but it works as advertised. I've always been more of a function over form guy anyway (case in point: I wear crocs almost everywhere knowing full well how preposterous they look, but not caring because my feets is happy)

I just wanted to share this, because I am not handy at all, so if I can make this work, you'll probably do it about elevendy times better! Cheers!

I was actually thinking about making an airflow control ring myself after seeing that thread on the airhole size.

I used to rock dual 1/8" airholes but have grown to enjoy the 1/16" airhole on my RM2.

One of the ideas I was mulling over was creating a ring or cap, with multiple airhole sizes, that would extend to the base and cover the whole RM2 and could be turned to set the desired airflow much like the Trident.

looks good, jwat! It's really just about what happens to be in your junk drawer. The idea of having whatever sized hole to partially occlude your existing is totally cool, because it allows for any micro-adjustment you may desire.

This other idea, with the adjuster on the inside . . . .. . hmmmm. For one thing, the airhole on the RM2 is located in a groove of sorts. (Above the threaded part of the cap, but still within the area that is recessed for those threads. Sort of cusping at the point where the cap gets thicker.) I wonder if that couldn't be used to one's advantage. Maybe just a simple ring shape that's no taller (thicker) than the natural hollow formed by the cap, step-down, rim juncture. That ring could simply have a section removed (imagine the letter "C", layed up against the shoulder in the cap where it's sides get thicker).
