Mac, I purposely didn't enter any conversation in the Outside over this subject. I believe that everyone has a right to worship in their own religion in the United States. Do I trust the muslim religion? No. Do I want a mosque built next door to me? No. Do I trust muslim people? I really want to, but when you continuously hear that muslims want to take over the world's religion, by killing those who won't comply....I got a problem with that. Islam is not a religion of peace. The Koran doesn't teach peace. I've read parts of the Koran and it's filled with jihad and hate of the Jewish people and the Christian people....you know, 'little satan' and 'big satan.' I hate that it's like that, but it's the truth. I didn't start out feeling this way, but their behavior has influenced my opinion. I believe that all Arabs are not lethal to us. There are many Christian Arabs that I trust.

I read a book authored by an Arab who had his doctorate in the Muslim religion and would teach it. He was the ultimate as far as teaching and understanding Islam. By the time I finished the book, he ended it by saying, "Please don't hate the Arab people. Hate Islam. Pray for the Arab people."

I watch out for sleeper cells. We have many Arab people who own convenience stores. My husband, quite some years ago, had a route in Alabama with Golden Flake potato chips. He was delivering a load to this particular truck stop and this small Arab brother, one of 5 that owned the store, walked up to my husband who was squatting to fill his his rack, and he said, "I could just lop your head right off quite easily." My husband stood up, towering over this little twirp, and said, "I could shoot you in the heart before you could even get ready for a swing." The twirp answered, "Everyone around here carries guns." My husband said, "Welcome to the south." He never bothered my husband again. Rule of thumb - if a store sells anything 'pork' like pork rinds and beer, they aren't jihadists. They aren't allowed to be around anything like that.

That's all I know! The truth is sad. :(

Don't like my thread eh? I think you have completely missed it's point. My point was not that one belief is better or that any is wrong. What I was talking about was how unchristian the behavior of some forum members was when discussing muslims. Oddly enough none of the people who were so quick to bash mulsims had anything to add to that thread to reinforce their previously stated position. Which was clearly that they felt superior to and threatened by millions of strangers. Based solely upon an irrational fear planted in our brains by our own government. Bummer that you missed my point and took it so far a field from my intended message which was one of tolerance, not judgement.

I know where you were coming from, Mac. It is a very reasonable question. How is anyone to decide the "right" or "better" anything without comparing the thing in question to another thing? For example, "What looks better - my blue dress, or my red dress?" You can't honestly answer without looking at both of them. On the subject of religion, I studied tons of them for twenty-plus years. I believe that is better than just picking one because that's the religion your parents were and blindly following it.

What really upset me about the thread, was the way people responded to it. A reasonable question deserves a reasonable answer. If you don't like my answer, that's fine. It doesn't mean we can't have a discussion about it, or at least agree to disagree. (Some of my favorite people on this board have beliefs that are polar opposite my beliefs.) Of course, I shouldn't shove it down your throat. By the same token, you shouldn't tell me to shove it up my ..... On a public forum, you are going to run into people with many differing beliefs. When the subject of religion comes up, people come out fighting. They aren't willing to exchange ideas on the subject, nor are they willing to just leave it alone.

Depending on the topic, and one's stance on it, it seems like voicing an opinion is not only futile, it not unlike throwing a blanket party for oneself. I will admit, I could not think of anything to post that would not add fuel to the fire, and I quit reading a few pages into it. The animosity was unbearable, and suffering through it would have been fruitless. I think a discussion on Christianity and Islam would be very edifying. Especially since Islam is not one of the religions I am well versed in - I would like to learn about it. But there was no discussion. It turned into a mosh pit.

It was neither pro muslim or anti religion. It was a simple question posed to illustrate a simple point.

Was your point "So called Christians are very un-Christian to Muslims. Muslims are worse than intolerant of Christians. Atheists hate anybody who believes in anything. And 95% of the population is incapable of having an adult conversation because they are proud of their ignorance and stupidity" ? That is basically what I got from it. ("It" meaning the pages of replies - not the original question.) That is what made me sad.

the greatest commandment of all these is... LOVE....I've been on the outside and was treated good....it could have been a heated so called debate....but I shared my feelings and experience in a way that was not shoving in someones face they are stupid, wrong, etc (as I have seen some do) for thinking or feeling the way they do....I have a heart for people of all types, and I do share Jesus with others, but it is thier life to live as they please.. as is mine...so there to me is no sense for those who have issue in not getting people convinced of what one thinks and then to get frazzled over it. We will all have to be accountable for what we do while we are alive here...A person's heart must be willing/ready/wanting and be drawn by GOD, or else pretty much everything you say is rubberish, not tolerated and a fight in the making. Plus, there are so many so-called Christians that are only good for warming a pew and living a sin infested life that Christianity to most is but a made up mess and a joke. Also, Jesus said they persecuted me and they will persecute you too. Keep your head up and just concentrate on making the Lord happy and everything else trust him to take care of.
