What is a leap of faith? If it is God who calls us then clearly the beginning of faith is an action on Gods part not ours.

    1. God calls us.
    2. We hear God.
    3. We choose to obey or not.

In the Amplified Bible Isaiah 55:11 Amplified Bible

So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

It becomes a simple matter of finding out what Gods word is and having faith or belief that it will accomplish what it says.

What more is there to faith?

To further show us what faith is and who is providing the working of our faith.

    Romans 12:3 Amplified Bible (AMP)

3 For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to everyone of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service].

    Ephesians 2 Amplified Bible (AMP)

2 And you [He made alive when you] were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you once walked. You were following the ways of this world [influenced by this present age], in accordance with the prince of the power of the air (Satan), the spirit who is now at work in the disobedient [the unbelieving, who fight against the purposes of God]. 3 Among these [unbelievers] we all once lived in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by the sinful self], indulging the desires of a]'>[a]human nature [without the Holy Spirit] and [the impulses] of the [sinful] mind. We were, by nature, children [under the sentence] of [God’s] wrath, just like the rest [of mankind].

4 But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace—His undeserved favor and mercy—you have been saved from God’s judgment). 6 And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus, 7 [and He did this] so that in the ages to come He might [clearly] show the immeasurable and unsurpassed riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus [by providing for our redemption].

8 For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

10 For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

I have no reason why this happened, but when I read this, I thought of God, Blessed be His Name, picking up a phone and calling us. Then, after a few moments, we listen to Him speak, and after that we hang up in God's face. A terrible analogy, but for some, God's voice is like getting a call from a telemarketer. They either hang up, while others try to be more polite......THEN they hang up. Then there are others who want to hear what God has to say. They listen.

Okay....throw stones at me. I didn't sleep enough. I am not saying that God tries to use the technique of a telemarketer. But to some people, God is as annoying to them. Now as His kids, we don't always want to listen. I know I'm guilty. Some of us need small reminders while others need to be hit up side the head with a 2 x 4. Now I have perfected squirming. I am good at it. 2 people, in my life, won't let me get away with it. One is my doctor. The other ..... well they know who they are. It was shown to be yesterday that I REALLY needed a 2 x 4 to get my attention. Who's fault was it? Mine. I knew better, but just got so sidetracked by the flesh part of my situation that I was drowning. I have no excuse. I will learn from this. So for crying out loud, don't do what I did. 2 x 4's aren't ouchless!

Are you saying something like this?

Recognize :danger: and submit to the Lord.

    James 4

4 You adulteresses [disloyal sinners—flirting with the world and breaking your vow to God]! Do you not know that being the world’s friend [that is, loving the things of the world] is being God’s enemy? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

5 Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose e]'>[e]that the [human] spirit which He has made to dwell in us lusts with envy?

7 So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you.

8 Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you.

If so read it in its complete context first the LOGO then once again in faith believing your receive the rhema - Bible Gateway passage: James 4 - Amplified Bible

    1 Cor 1:22-24 NKJV

For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

In context to this article, consider this same verse paraphrased for today’s culture:

    1 Cor 1:22-24

For Rhema people request a sign, and Word people seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Rhema people a stumbling block and to the Word people foolishness, but to those who are called, both Rhema people and Word people, Christ is both the power of God (rhema people) and the wisdom of God (Word people).

Now my daddy who was Jewish and this was before he became a Messianic Jew would ask God for a sign. That's the reason we moved from Birmingham, AL to Mississippi in 1958. My mother wasn't convinced that he saw a star in a sky full of clouds...twice. He had to have confirmation. My sister used to do that but I prefer to ask The Source.

In the regular course of our daily reading of God’s Word (logos), we need to ask God to speak to us through His Word and give us insight into it. The Holy Spirit can cause certain passages to stand out with significant meaning or application for our lives. These are the rhemas of Scripture and should become a part of our daily thoughts and actions. Rhema people - Google Search

In Christianity, rhema is used in Bible study to signify Jesus Christ's utterance. The Greek word rhema is useful to distinguish between two meanings of word. While both rhema and logos are translated into the English word, in the original Greek there was a substantial distinction Rhema people - Google Search

FAITH - Is it knowing right from wrong or depending on God?

1 Now faith is the grounds of things which are hoped for, and the evidence of things which are not seen.

2 For by it our elders were well reported of.

3 Through faith we understand that the world was ordained by the word of God, so that the things which we see, are not made of things which did appear. Bible Gateway passage: Hebrews 11 - New International Version

    verb
    gerund or present participle: depending
    1. 1. be controlled or determined by. "differences in earnings depended on a wide variety of factors"
synonyms: be contingent on, be conditional on, be dependent on, hinge on, hang on, rest on, rely on; be decided by "her career depends on a good reference"
    2. 2. rely on. the kind of person you could depend on"

We learn to DEPEND on God to reveal Himself to us! God leads us to fork in the road.

    1. draw closer - delight/pleasure.
    2. pull away - displeasure/annoyance/disapproval.

We either draw closer to God or pull away from God.

If we draw closer to God we are assured Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Question: "What does it mean to delight yourself in the Lord (Psalm 37:4)?"

    Answer:
Psalm 37:4 says, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Taking delight in the Lord means that our hearts truly find peace and fulfillment in Him. If we truly find satisfaction and worth in Christ, Scripture says He will give us the longings of our hearts. Does that mean, if we go to church every Sunday, God will give us a new Rolls Royce? No. The idea behind this verse and others like it is that, when we truly rejoice or “delight” in the eternal things of God, our desires will begin to parallel His and we will never go unfulfilled. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things [the necessities of life] will be given to you as well.”
What does it mean to delight yourself in the Lord (Psalm 37:4)?

It's my opinion to take delight in the Lord is to submit to the will of God.

He supplied FAITH to me and revealed Himself within it. By doing so I delight in the Lord.

Though I mess up! God never leaves me, He continues to show more and more of Himself.

Silly as it sounds I rejoice in messing up and being weak. I would even say I look forward towards it.

Paul speaks on a thorn in the flesh was given to him.

Bible Gateway passage: 2 Corinthians 12 - Amplified Bible
9 but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me. 10 So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength].

What came to my mind when I read this was the word 'to.' In English, we have different meanings for the same sounding word. That is why English is apparently so difficult to learn. We have: to, too, two. You have to learn how to use each of these in the correct way. The same with: there and their. Then there are the 3 types of love: agape - God's love; philos - friendship love (the word Philadelphia means brotherly love); and eros - the physical love between a man and woman.

    Very interesting, MM!:)

The way I understand this is without the power from the wall socket, vacuuming is next to impossible. But when you plug into the power of electricity, your task is so much easier. That is why I have used the phrase of 'plugging into the Power of God,' Blessed be His Name, numerous times, because without Him, we only have the power to mess everything up. Been there done that too many times to count. The Scripture that best explains it is: 'I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.' Jesus is not going to run around with an extension cord asking you to plug in. You got to know that is what we have to do. We go to Him so He can empower us. Does that make any sense? I sure hope so. If not, I'll try again.

Jesus gave us a ruler to measure ourselves by it's His word (teaching).

Bible Gateway passage: John 14 - Amplified Bible

21 The person who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him [I will make Myself real to him].”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) asked Him, “Lord, what has happened that You are going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered, “If anyone [really] loves Me, he will keep My word (teaching); and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling place with him.

24 One who does not [really] love Me does not keep My words. And the word (teaching) which you hear is not Mine, but is the Father’s who sent Me.

Here I go with another story from my learning experiences. There was a position at the tv station where I worked that I told ex at the time we would discuss before I took it. The position I had was a copy writer for commercials. They couldn't support 3 people working in that department, so they deleted my position. ANYWAY, I had talked to my mother and sister for advice, not my husband, and they advised me to take it as it was more money. So without discussing it with my husband, I took it. Long story short, I was getting an ulcer. It was a high stress job and finally one morning, I fell apart and spouse said to go to the church and talk with our preacher. So I did. 98% of the time, he was never in....this morning he was. We talked, prayed, and I knew what I had to do. When I pulled into my driveway, I kept saying, "Lord, if I wasn't suppose to take this job WHY didn't You tell me! He answered me so lovingly and said, "You didn't ask me." It broke my heart that I shut Him out and I fell into a heap over the steering wheel and cried my eyes out. I had hurt my God, my Saviour.....and it hurt me. For many years, when I would think of that morning, I would still break down and weep. I was so embarrassed in front of Him. I didn't follow Scripture...submit to my husband as he was miffed about me taking the job without talking to him. I felt like a pile of doggy ...stuff for a very long time. That's why it's so important to know God's Word, Blessed be His Name. satan will give you a gotcha, every time.

The morale of this story is not to ask advice from people who will give you secular answers. :(
