I'm considering an iTaste MVP, but have some concerns with lifetime. Since you cannot change the battery, I worry about the longevity of the product. I have other PV's (a collector, like most) but this one just appeals to me because of reviews, appearance and battery life. It's a new product, so I don't expect real life results, but has anyone come across manufacturer promises on charges?

The general concensus on lithium based batteries is 300 charge cycles from low ~3.1v to full ~4.2v before drastic charge densitiy is decreased to an undesireable level. I have 14500 batteries that have seen in excess of 500 chares and still perform well enough to go in my PV but there is a definite difference in use time between those and a set with less than 50 charges... But they do still work without issues otherwise.

That addresses the immediate concern of battery, The secondary concern for me would be the case and the connector. More of my mods have failed at the connector than from any other failures multiplied. All in all it looks like a nice device and would think that it should last a reasonable amount of time. Second to that if the battery should fail there are replacements available at hobbyking if need be..........

Awesome information, man. It's much appreciated. I've got a line on a good price so I'm probably going to take the (not really a big deal) plunge. Thanks for the reply.

I used to analog too.

Enjoy your new device. Let us know how you like it, once you get to using it.

I don't know why I'm that concerned with it, especially for the price. I own a $1500 mac that I can't change the battery in and a $500 phone I can't change the battery in. It's a little silly to worry so much over a $50 dollar product. I'm just a chronic researcher.

I really admire that last statement you made. I'll be getting a MVP soon I hope. Why I want it I can't really answer. I've got so many now it's not funny. Just never had a box type mod and I want one. Guess that's my reason. ;)

I'm glad to hear about the build quality. I'm not a particularly clumsy person and take good care of my stuff, but I have a giant dog that often a) barks when a fly lands on the door, scaring the crap out of me causing me to drop stuff and b) is always underfoot, or in her case, under hip, so I'm always being bumped, causing me to drop stuff. It's definitely a plus that it can take a beating.

Good enough reason for me! I could have honestly stayed off the analogs with a volt, since the motivation was there and I just needed a small crutch to lean on. But as with other hobbies, the collecting is almost as important as the partaking. A good friend of mine is a scotch collector and has bottles that will likely never see the inside of a drinking glass and he could drink two tumblers a night and never get through them all, but it doesn't stop him from buying that one more. There's always another white whale to spear.

Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Just like a good Timex watch. My Inokkin Itast VV has a server dent in the side of it, caused by it wanting to learn to fly and bounce. Works just like brand new.

I really like the box style. It feels comfortable in my hand. I can set it down standing or on its side on a table or counter and it will not roll off. Setting it on its side is really handy for stardust type clearos.

iTaste = iWaste everyone I know has had problems with these things!!! (including me) Don't wast your money. Thin wires, poor circuit design. I left mine in the sun = POOF!!!

uumm.. you left it in the sun? that's not the device's fault.. anything with a battery + prolonged direct sunlight = bad.

personally, I love it. I have the updated version, no issues, works awesome and charge lasts for quite some time, and charges fast too!

nothing is ever perfect.. and perfection/usage is subjective. there are going to be some units that fail in one way or another, but the vast majority of reviews/comments I've seen are positive.
