Got the replacement a few days after my post... and it's still a gen 1... BUT... the ring is much more "solid"... for lack of a better word... and the readings no longer fluctuate and stuff. I'm just being a bit more gentle on the connector now... until I find a way to solder that connector wheel solid or something.

I'm in the same boat, have contacted both innokin and the store I purchased it from...however ive owned mine since its been out and may not be covered...I am hoping to find a solution I praise this piece so much and have recommended it to 5 people at work
