I just ordered my first ecig - an iTaste VV. I've been trying to read up on the topic, but I still don't quite understand the difference between cartos and attys.

I'm a casual cigar/pipe smoker, but I really like the idea of having a somewhat cleaner, quicker solution when I just need to clear my mind a little when I'm thinking. Was the iTaste the right move? I'm still waiting for my juice to show up, but I'm really looking forward to it.

I also really hate the feeling of nicotine buzzes, so I ordered nicotine free juice from Johnson Creek, was that the right move? I'm feeling a relatively steep learning curve at the moment.

Thanks!

Personally, I've never used the Itaste vv but I did consider when I was deciding which pv I wanted to purchase. I believe it's a great device for a beginner.

Considering you're a pipe smoker I think you could purchase a sample pack with low nicotine levels. I don't think it'll give you trouble but still fulfill the nicotine craving. If I misunderstood that, then I'm sorry lol. I also use 0 mg nicotine juices and its strictly for the flavors.

Welcome.

An atty (atomizer) is the coil that heats up and vaporizers the liquid, be it by itself (as in a dripping atomizer), a cartomizer (tube with packing material that absorbs the eliquid the atomizer vaporizes), in a tank with wick (like a viva nova or evod).

Did you pick up the full Itaste VV kit that comes with the iclear16 clearomizers, or did you just by the itaste VV battery by itself?

I have two iTaste batteries (the VV and MVP), and they are both great devices. I've never had a problem with either. The VV is an excellent way to find out about voltages and what works at what level since it has the ohm checker. I highly suggest looking at a few reviews on YouTube when you first get it to see all the features hands on.

I've never received much of a buzz from eliquid, but I use 6mg. If you like throat hit (the little tinge at the back of your throat when you smoke), you may want to do a low amount of nicotine and have more PG in your liquid than VG (some websites allow you to choose your ratio. PG=Throat Hit, VG=vapor production. I'm not a big throat hit fan, so I typically have 50/50 or more VG than PG. I've never tried Johnson Creek, and taste is subjective. You may try a few sites before you find something that you just love. I have a few flavors from several different vendors that I like.

As for carto/atty, it seems like your question has been answered.

Good luck! If you're looking for answers, you've come to the right place.

I bought the kit that included a pack iClears. But it just seems inconvenient to mess with all the parts of an atty. What's wrong with cartomizers?

I have a 3ml T3 on my ITaste VV right now at work. It is vaping perfectly right now :) It is a good way for a beginner to play around with the vv and vw, so is the twist! I have been vaping 9 months and I got it for out and about and work, I think it's a great choice for either a beginner or a not so new.
