I know there have been other threads about allergies to PG however I couldn't find one that discussed being itchy but not having any kind of rash/hives if there is one sorry for posting again. I was wondering if anyone else gets itchy or maybe is it just my body getting used to vaping? I've only been doing it for 2 weeks and the itching just started about 3 days ago. I am drinking much more water than I used to because I am thirsty all the time and I've read how vaping can dehydrate you. Does this seem like a PG allergy or could it be something different? Dry skin from the vaping? Body adjusting or maybe a sensitivity and not an allergy?

My concern as well!!

I'm very much allergic to soy, so I've been hesitant to try VG juice (usually soy based).
While, switching to a VG juice would be the typical response to your body not liking PG.

The PV has coincided with numerous allergic responses with me...that are similar to my food based soy intolerance.

I'm hoping it's just my body detoxing, and taking herbal remedies with lots of water.
I really love vaping, but if man-made constitutes cause more problems than my American Spirits...
I might be in trouble...

I'm curious if anyone with allergy sensitivities has a non soy VG juice to recommend.

I'm also experiencing itching. I never had it with e-lites but do get it with Green Smoke. Started same day I started the e-cigs, shortly afterwards in my lower leg and then my arm and now it's my back, shoulders, chest and stomach too. It's not all the time so I can put up with it and it beats killing myself with the fags. Also noticed that my heart feels different, like it's shaky (almost like when you feel anxious) and sometimes lasts for an hour or 2 but again, it's worth it. I can't understand why my appetite is so strong though as I've read that nicotine is an appetite supressent but I'm eating like there's no tomorrow! Gained nearly a stone in 6 weeks.

I wonder if you're taking in more nicotine than you want. Sounds like it to me.

Interesting. I am having a continuing transient itch. Today it's my fore-arms. Hmmm. Could be flavoring related, or just the winter, though I have been hitting the vanilla pretty hard ;-) Anyway, not enough to bother me much for now.

As for the weight gain, when I went through the SmokEnders program years ago they told us most folks put on 7-10 lbs when they stop cigarettes, and to counter that with increased exercise. So, there's that. I say eat more broccoli and dark leafy greens and everything will balance out :)

I don't think I'm taking more nicotine than I was as I'm using the light (1.2mg) e-cig and I was on Marlboro lights before, smoking 12 a day and I'm now vaping the equivalent of 5 fags a day (10 drags at a time). Most of the itching I get is on my arms too, but always my upper arms. But I also experienced this when I stopped taking nicotine entirely and it lasted a couple of weeks. I will take 5 drags at a time instead of 10 and hopefully it won't make my heart feel funny.

I wonder if the itching is a result of your body detoxing from the additives put into tobacco cigarettes. It could literally be coming out of your pores and causing the itching. Just a thought.

Could be. I snorted at the idea of 'quit zits'. Now I have them. Heh. Clearing up already. I haven't had a breakout like that in a decade.

Tacoma Wa,
I've been vaping almost two years..and have never had any symptoms untill about 3 weeks ago when my normal DIY nicotine vendor ran out and i had to buy from another site.
using their nic I get itchy palms, neck, stomach, arms and groin area.
Someone online said it might have impurities.

My friends who i sell my creations to have not said anything about itching.. but they are new vapors, and i figure my body is used to the old nic i used?

Is anyone else getting acid indigestion since stopping fags? I've had it every day for nearly 6 weeks now. Don't know if this is common.

Nicotine has been shown to reduce the lower oesophageal sphincter pressure, which can leave you vulnerable to acid reflex. I would definately lower the nicotine level intake.

If your'e having heart issues, you need to restrict your nicotine intake. This can cause complications down the road, such as arrhythmia and cardiac arrest. Plenty of studies show that tobacco alternatives do increase risks of cardiac complications, usually due to an overly high dose rate.

Edit: just re-read your post, you're using 12mg, right? Maybe switch your provider, I think 1 FDA test showed fluid contamination with diethylene glycol, which is toxic and can cause nausea and cardiac arrhythmia.

Edit 2: Did some more research. PG and VG fluids are susceptible to oxidation, because they naturally absorb oxygen. The products of the reaction include ketones, aldehydes, and dioxylanes. Granted the first two classes dont really tell us all that much, but the Dioxylane compounds are generally toxic. So if you let your fluid sit out in the sun light, or leave it in an open container for too long (weeks), it's likely that it will start to accumulate these chemicals. The LD50's are relatively high, so I wouldn't expect any real complications or even worry too much about it. Based on the rate of oxidation, I'd put the shelf life for PG at a little over one year. I would imagine VG being the same. So probably switch where you get your fluid from, and that should help.

For those of you with itching sensations, I found this article to be of use. http://www.webmd.com/smoking-cessation/news/20090916/nicotine-patch-turns-on-itchy-feeling

I have to add my experience, because I do think that intense itching is related to vaping for those of us having some sort of allergic reaction. I smoked for 30 years and started vaping in mid-January of this year. I've never been a person to have skin sensitivities or any kind of allergies. I can pretty much go back to mid-January and pinpoint that is when the itching started. I was vaping a 50/50 mix with flavoring. I didn't put two and two together and continued vaping. I didn't have any issues quitting the analogs either, so this has really been a disappointment for me, as I'm trying to figure out just what is causing this reaction.

As the weeks went on, I started itching more. I started getting hives. It would move around - sometimes an arm, sometimes a leg, my scalp, my face, my ears, my hands. I thought it was my laundry soap - even though I have never had allergic reactions to anything before in my life (I'm 46). I threw out my laundry soap and rewashed everything in the house, bought new shower soap, new handsoap, everything. I bought all "free and clear" soaps and that didn't help. Then it got to the point where I was losing sleep. I would itch all night. If I even so much as touched my face or a leg, I would start to itch. It's been absolutely terrible. I've had full blown hives now for a week or so. It's almost as if it started off slowly when I first started vaping and then, as my body was taking in more of the eliquid it just got worse. It's to the point where it is unbearable.

After seeing some people mentioning itching, I switched over to 100vg. I used the 100vg (same flavoring I used when I was vaping 50/50) for a couple days. The itching did not go away, but I only gave it two days. I went back to smoking - not because I want to smoke analogs again - but because I need a break from this horrible itching. I'm going to give it about 5-7 days and see what happens, but I can say right now that the itching has almost gone away. I have a little here and there, but I can touch my skin without immediately breaking out in hives. I'm pretty sure it's subsiding and I'll post again at the end of the week to let you know if it's completely gone. Right now, I'm just to the point where I need to confirm that this is from vaping. I'm certain it is, but the only way to know for sure is to start the analogs and quit the vaping to see what happens.

My question is - if completely gone, then what? I'm thinking now it may not have been the PG or VG, but maybe the flavoring?

Does anyone have suggestions as to a good supplier with 100vg and flavorings that might be less likely to cause an allergic reaction?

Yeah mine came back..so now i'm gonna narrow down flavors.. i only use a few..Mine come and go..but i notice it happens more at night.
I also notice it starts on the hotter areas of the body first and kind of spreads... and if i jump in the shower it subsides..So i am thinking it is caused by the chemicals coming out with sweat and heat and once it hits the skin level,it causes the reations.

After almost 2 years i really don't want to go back to smoking. but i like to "smoke" On payday i'm gonna buy a big bottle of liquid that i used to vape and see if it works to rid me of my hives. My DIY is way cheaper.. but it's not worth the hives.
