Ithaka o-rings for plastic tank section

Just wondering, on my first Ithaka, the plastic tank section came with o-rings, but my second one and the two spare tank sections I ordered did not - is this an oversight from the retailer?

As I understand it, the earlier Ithakas had the orings on the plastic tank, but Imeo (or someone) discovered that they really aren't necessary. Mine (serial #4179) has no orings on the clear tank, and doesn't leak at all.

So: no, they don't come with orings any more.

Have to say I get a bit of weeping overnight on mine - nothing a bit of teflon tape won’t cure - I’ll ask if they can throw some in when the Just gets shipped.

Built up my second Ithaka I picked up earlier in the week and having a leaking a problem around the plastic as well. Noticed it didn't have the o-rings when I took it apart and there was also a tiny crack by the threads, felt more on the inside of the plastic though. Also had some nasty flooding, half the liquid emptied out into my ggts collector tank. Going to try the new nut next time around and also e-mailed COV to see if I can get a replacement plastic with o-rings.

Maths, I'd check first that the tank is tightened correctly, and not cross threaded. I believe igetcha69's Ithaka video shows you the best way to make sure the tank is tightened (but the one he uses has the o-rings). Basically, put a finger in each end, squeeze with your thumbs, and twist. (I wonder who will make the first joke here?) I've taken mine apart several times, and put it back, and not had any weeping from the tank window.

danks, I think the leaking you're experiencing may have to do with over tightening the ceramic housing, causing the o-ring on the center post to warp and break the seal. Personally, I only tighten my ceramic down until it is just tight, I don't crank it. Maybe try this?

Hehe - good point CLS, but if I learned nothing else from my Grandfather, it was how not to cross threads. Besides, I don’t think they let you get a GG if you haven’t completed screw-fu 101!

I checked the other tanks and indeed 1 of them leaks and the other doesn't - but the retailer has kindly offered to send some rings with my Justs so all is good in the world.
