Ok I think Ive chased my tail enough on this one to justify this post.
For some reason I just cant get dual coil to work well.
First my gear.
Sigeli 20 watt.
VTC 5 bat
Itaste VTR
Hercules Ithaka clone.
Kayfun Lite.
Kanthal 28,30,32,34, .5mm ribbon.
Silica Wick 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm
Braided Silica wick 2.5, 3mm
Organic Cotton
Rayon
Ive tried every coil watt and ohm combination you can think off.
Dual coil just dont work for me.
I can get single coil to work like a charm
In fact its hard not to get it to work. .8 Ohm to 3.2 Ohms and no matter how you build it. Using what media you like. Its good enoughf to vape.
You can find a setting that works and enjoy your vape.
Dual coil. About the only dual coil Ive ever got to work is the Kangertech Protank 3 min. At 1.5 Ohms it vapes decent. Not as good as my Pro tank 2 mini on a single coil. Just decent.
Ive found my best single coils are in the .8 to 1.8 range.
Does this mean that to get similar results with a dual coil I should half my ohms ?. i.e. If a 1.5 single coil is working I should go for a .75 dual coil. Is this a rule of thumb ?.
Any imputs would be nice.
Ive even ordered a mechanical mod just in case its my mods causing the problem.
Next question pertains to the Ithika design.
Even with the air flow open all the way the draw is pretty tight.
If you look at the basic design of the Ithika. How does the adjustable air flow connect to your mouth piece.
There is no connection. Above the chamber with with the 510 connector. You have your positve post coming down thru a hole. And this is sealed off with an O-Ring. There is no air going to get past it.
About the only way for air to enter your juice well. And mouth piece is via the hollow tube that makes up your positive post. This is the only clear passageway for air. And on all the clones the dia of this tube is way smaller than the orignal Ithika. So I have drilled it out. I think it was a 1.35mm drill bit I used. Anything more and it would weaken the post.
The design and spring pressure off your 510 connector seems to have more effect on your air flow than how you adjust the air flow.
The air flow adjuster does seem to do something. i.e. if you close it. You get zero draw. But going from a little open to fully open or even at fully open the draw is a bit tight.
Any ideas of improving air flow on this design.
Thanks
