Every way I look at this, it still leads back to the money which goes hand in hand with corruption.

vaping is a booming industry that cannot be ignored. Government basically had but two choices:

1. Embrace it and celebrate finally accomplishing what seemed to be so impossible for so many years. Nurture it and regulate it at a reasonable level in the interest of, but not to the detriment of society. Let it grow and restrict any and all taxing bodies from taxing it other then existing sales tax. If all works as it should and appears to be, the savings in health care and insurance costs will more then offset those "losses." The down side? Of course, the health care and insurance industries would not be concerned with any possible decrease in revenues, right? Elected/appointed officials would have to deal with lobbyists, donors, and special interest groups costing them what? MONEY!

Or.....

2. Demonize it. While that may very well jeopardize "A Billion lives", they are willing to do just that to appease the lobbyists, donors, and special interest groups, in turn keeping the MONEY! And there is a middle ground in there, but would it actually be realistic to see it even approaching the midpoint?

Government has made its choice! "The children", "concern for our health and the health of those around us", "we don't know the long term effects", etc.? Those are merely futile (well, maybe not so futile) attempts to justify their choice.......no more, no less. Government can live with the "collateral damage" it might do to its image.

The folks railroading vaping don't give a damn about the governments image. They know the truth, and took their respective paths regardless. They want the money, power, or control. They have effectively swayed public opinion towards a negative view of vaping, and there is no reason for them to believe that they can't keep that ball rolling at present.

For me it's really very simple. As long as cigarettes are available to buy and use then vaping should be encouraged as a safer alternative. Once the smoking of tobacco has been made illegal (ha) then there will be a valid arguement to curtail vaping.
Until smoking is illegal ANY moves to restrict a safer alternative are morally bankrupt.
