It's been two months since I stopped smoking and it's affected vaping in a weird way.

Totally normal.

As is the black crud you'll cough up.

Everyone who has quit smoking goes through the same thing, even people who don't vape. It's your lungs and throat healing. As the tar is removed from your lungs, the newly exposed tissue is sensitive and easily irritated. The good part is that it's only temporary. The more your lungs clear out and the more they heal the less irritation you'll have, and it really doesn't take very long before you're no longer bothered by it.

Strange - I am 3 months in and not a single cough. Mind you I was 32 years on smokes and no coughing either. Maybe I have a third lung that is full of tar... That said I did have an attack of pleurisy 10 years ago so I can't claim to have lungs of steel :)
The big thing I have noticed is getting a sense of smell - it has upsides and downsides, the latter especially in public toilets.

I've been off cigs for a little over 6 weeks and I went through a period of coughing for maybe 2 wks or so. I started off on 18mg PG and immediately had a sore throat, so I went to 100% VG and my voice would get raspy and I felt like I had a hairball in my throat. After I coughed a bit I was ok. At 50/50 PG/VG there was still the hairball, so I ordered some 12 mg 85% PG and 15% VG and everything cleared up. I've gone thru about 20 mls with no sore throat and no hairball or coughing. This is just my experience, ymmv.

The weirdest thing for me is the smell of grass...I used to love that smell. NOW it smells like cat pee. Every place I go that has grass..make me gag!

to ecf Stuart G. So glad you are here. Sorry you are having some "normal" issues. It is nice to be able to belong somewhere that everyone knows what you are going through or feeling. Makes ecf so special. Good luck to you and I hope this passes soon. :)

This might help explain a few things you might be going through when you stop puffing on the analogs...

http://whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Benefits_Time_Table.html

The time period varies for everyone, so don't take the numbers as absolute hard fact. If you were smoking at the same time you were vaping, the time period will differ.

I also had a cough also, but not a thing afterwards, 8 months later. I started with high nic also, 24-36mg. Like many say here, I know it is normal, I know a good many vapers that had the same thing. Some it last for a week or two, others longer. When first starting a cooler vape is pretty much a must, and it is so nice when taste buds start changing, only gets better from there on out. Congrats on 2 months btw!
